I believe it just unscrews.

 

thanks, I tried to unscrew it but it just wouldn't budge. Probably been in there since 87. I'll try it again tomorrow if I have some time.

 

 

that's what i was going to try next. I didn't want to break it even though it probably won't get reused but I'll get it off one way or another. Thanks!

 

That removes the cable and housing assembly. If you want to remove the cable itself, you must disconnect the housing from either the cruise control servo or the speedometer head itself then you can pull the cable out from the upper end.
