that's what i was going to try next. I didn't want to break it even though it probably won't get reused but I'll get it off one way or another. Thanks!
That removes the cable and housing assembly. If you want to remove the cable itself, you must disconnect the housing from either the cruise control servo or the speedometer head itself then you can pull the cable out from the upper end.
