Uhm I dipped my whole car. And Ik that would be a pita. I'd honestly Bando it. It would seriously take hours to dip it and get it to the point the dents aren't visible.

 

so you're suggesting for him to

-Sand the paint off the roof,
-Fill the dings with Bondo or other body filler
-Sand it again for smooth finish
-Mask off the roof
-Paint it with Primer
-Paint it with Base coat... at least there times
-Paint it with Clear coats
-buffer the paint

Doing all this without bodywork experience would make his roof look worse than what started with. also Bondo is know to expand and make the paint crack, another reason why I wouldn't recommend it.

PlasticDip can come out thick and smooth out some dings, I'm not sure if you can actually use plastidip to fill the dings, that would be interesting.
well it all depends also on how bad are the "dings"

 

I tried taking pictures of them to post but you can't really see them well. You can tell in some spots that the light is being bent by the dent, but because the car is black thats prety much all you see. I'm going to take more once the sun sets a bit. I tried emailing a body shop who claims to be able to fix them without ruining or needing new paint. They havent responded yet with a price tho. I know if I try to Bondo it myself the end result will be horrid! lol

 

Take it to a professional, there are new techniques that can remove dents without harming the finish.

 

It's impossible to do PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) anywhere there's bracing behind the skin of a panel. "Traditional" body work would still be necessary.

 

Oh well. Lol hopefully they'll take it easy on me at the body shop

 

I've seen those dent removal guys in action, they are incredibale, I'd say get an estimate, you'll be surprised.

 

Why not use some 3M vinyl wrap? If they are that minor just pick a vinyl color or pattern to your liking and do that. It's the cheapest and best option I can think off and you don't damage your paint in the process.

 

Wrapping is more expensive than Dipping... 2 cans of plasti dip will cost about $12. I talked to a guy yesterday and he dipped his hood/truck/roof because of hail damage similiar to mine. You couldn't see any dings... i'm going to try it Sunday and see how it turns out... worst case senerio I have to pell it off.

 

Paintless dent removal, ive seen them take a crease out of a door. it was bad.
they can get them out of the roof, sometimes they use suction cups, sometimes you may have to pull down the liner, but they get hail damage cars all the time.

 

I've seen studs stuck to the dent with hot glue, the dent pulled ou, and the stud removed with some heat. I've also seen what looks like miracles performed by rubbing the dent with dry ice. Do some YouTube searches. There's no telling what you will find.

 

i decided not to do it... i talked to the guys at dipmycar.com and they basically told me i would just be wasting time trying to do it. Just take it to a body shop or leave it alone... but in much nicer terms. lol
