'24 XT4 problems

Problems that I’ve documented to date with my Dealer and GM.
  • Auto lift gate reverts to “off” when you shut the car off
  • The sound in the car goes into a “mute” state randomly (meaning no sound at all radio/warning bells/blinker/etc…-no sound at all). I got in and out of the car 5 times the other day, 3 times no sound, 2 times normal)
  • My phone was set up as “First to Connect”. Somehow that toggle button was off. Had been working previously.
  • All the radio presets buttons where gone
  • I set the infotainment display to “Day”. Even though it’s still set that way it changes the display brightness like it is set to “Auto” even though it’s not
Number 3 & 4 happen on the same day, also there have been no over the air updates during this time period (so that didn’t cause any of these)

Yes I am experiencing the same issues.
1. The sounds goes completely mute even when you try to call OnStar.

2. when you’re on the Home Screen and press vehicle status it freezes and nothing comes up.

3. auto lift gate shuts off every time the car is off. The Cadillac light that appears under the trunk constantly shuts off.

I’ve brought it into dealership but there is nothing they can really do besides tell me it needs an update which at this point does nothing.

I experienced the same issue today with the volume going completely mute. I got out of the car twice turned off and on and even turned my car play on and off to synch and nothing… it was an hour drive with no sound totally in mute… I hope the sound works when I get back in.. If not it will be a quiet 1 hr drive back home.. Well at least I have a nice 33” screen to look at… lol

Have same problem with audio on my 2024 XT 4. Took it in to dealer 2 weeks ago. They did an update and screen went black during update. Dealer had to disconnect battery and reprogram. Unfortunately audio went out again tonight.

And hands free lift gate keeps resetting to off...
Argh. Love my car but very frustrating

Mine stopped after I sent the update, 2 hour impact on my end .. it’s been several weeks no issues .

Disappointing for "CADILLAC" quality! My 2020 xt4 sport has had many intermittent electrical issues of which most have been fixed but some still come and go, and it sounds like Cadillac isn't learning how to stress test and prevent electrical issues! When they do major redesigns like the new dash, sadly, i think it might be best to wait until model year 2 or 3 thereafter.

The dealer did a hard reboot (unplug/replug battery) and it worked. Let’s hope it does not repeat!

Another more serious issues with my 7 days new car: i received a message of “charging system issue”, followed by low battery warning. Called OnStar and they did diagnostic and sent me code to go with to dealer. I did go immediately to dealer to find that the serpentine belt is loose!!! It seems that it was loose from manufacture!!! I was told by dealer that things like that happens. They fixed with new belt. Where is the high quality of luxury car quality control??? I never had that with the many non-luxury cars I had previously. Another issue is the liftgate. It keep disconnecting back to off. I thought Cadillac quality control has improved since i just traded in my CT4 2020 for the many non-repairable issues I had with. I will leave the CT4 issues discussion for a new separate thread.

Dear Cadillac, I have an xt4 sport on order and by the time it comes in if these problems have not been rectified I will drop the vehicle off at the dealer and request my money back. Problems like this should be vetted out before a vehicle is released.
Also, I'm hearing from several sources that the Alexa app is not even loaded on the apps menu. If that's true you are false advertising Alexa built in. This is another feature that if it is not on my car when it is delivered I will just leave it there. Get it right Cadillac

Good thing you didn't purchase a first gen and had to have the top of the motor taken off to repair the leaking cam carrier gasket. Take note of the 100's and 100's of thousands of vehicles that all the major manuf's release as new and improved that they end up recalling for one reason or another. It's reallity for the times we're living in and Cadillac is no different than the multitude as far as recalls go.
That being said, as long as the dealership you purchase from places customer satisfaction first you'll be fine. Your 4yr bumper to bumper will see you through the worst of all of it. The inconvenience of having it in the shop is the worst you'll have to deal with.

If you look in your apps do you see the Alexa app? I'm just curious how many cars this was left out of if not all.
i do not see it…could it be that we have to download it somehow??

Less than 5,000 miles on the XT4 bought at the end of last year. Already had to bring it into the shop 8 times. Complete dash goes out, speedometer, radio, bluetooth, and audio. Has happened during a drive at night as well. GM said they will not do anything about it. The only offer I was given was a trade in which due to how much I have paid on it already I get to lose thousands on the trade. I thought Cadillac meant quality. It does not.

AND it’s been in the shop 6 times since I got the car last October. First the screen went black after what sounded like a gunshot, then after it was rebooted and “road worthy” for a trip out of state - the check engine light came on out in the middle of nowhere Texas - called and was told as long as it wasn’t a blinking light I “should be okay”. Got to my destination and all kinds of lights were going on and off AND the side mirrors wouldn’t open! Fun trip. Got it back in for another reboot and after a week it was certified as perfect. Last week the front collision light came on for no reason and back it went to the shop. Screen continues to dim and freeze. Was told they took the issue up through the GM chain of command and they are working on a new fix and complete system reboot. I hate this car.

We are in a similar situation. Because I was rear-ended due ghost automatic breaking for No reason, GM came and downloaded for 2-3 hours all info from the car. It has been 3 weeks now and waiting for their finding! I took automatic break off and put it on alert only so that I can safely drive it. It still alert me to break when there is no need to fast break. Lift gate not working and the sound cuts off 4x already….the list is sad from a trusted company! Unsafe and unreliable.

I've had mine back to the dealer twice now (they replaced the radio the 2nd time) for the same issue - driving down the road and the sound just "disappears" - nothing. Turn signals, radio, even the "approaching vehicle alert" didn't sound. I guess third time's the charm, then I'll invoke the Lemon Law here. I expected much more from an expensive Cadillac (2024 XT Sport) - this stinks.

i bought 2024 xt4 and i am less than happy. Today at work going around the parking garage, for the 3rd time ( not all happened at work) 1 x going down the mountain, that ghost brake thing happened. now i am very concerned to the point im afraid to drive it, but i have to. Called dealership in my area, and was told to bring in this coming Thrs. that's the first appt they had available. I was so glad that no one was behind me. Very unsafe. Has anyone else had this happen? I don't know if I have gotten a lemon or what. this is my 3rd cadillac, but if its gonna go like this it will be my last. If anyone else has had this issue please let me know and thanks. I also have sweaky brakes on the right side, had that looked at last oil change, just said they scraped some stuff of the brake, still squeaks only in the morning when im first starting the car and backing out of garage. For the money we paid for this vehicle, im surely disappointed.

I had a ghost brake event and got rear ended. GM sent a tech home and downloaded stuff for 2-3 hours. After 6 weeks (last week), the told to take it to the dealership that they should be conducting Technical Service Bullen #24-NA-053. I had the lift gate switching to manual and audio going off to which there is to be fixed now. Took it dealer and just got it back today after a week. So far so good; but honestly I do not feel safe yet with the auto brake. I have been driving in Alert only since the accident. It is disturbing to buy a new Cadillac and end up with these major safety and reliability issues.

I had this happen to myself as well and the weather conditions were dry, no rain, no snow and my car stopped and the second time my car stopped, i was almost hit. I have also had so many issues going on electrically and with the computer of the car that i requested a buy back and they refuse to do so. At this point my car has been in the shop for 57 days total and almost 30 days consecutively. Every time they "fix" a problem, it causes a new glitch with the latest glitch being the whole screen goes black when i hit my settings to save seat 1 or 2 position. Since my car has had this problem, they have not been able to fix it and it has been almost 30 days since it started. Also, they never truly have been able to address the car stopping with nothing in front of it. Truly disappointed with the customer service from the corporate level.
Have you thought to explore the lemon law with better business bureau.

I bought a new 2024 Cadillac XT4 around 3 weeks ago and its riddled with issues and problems.

1. The main issue is that the car including the steering and the speed pedals is vibrating. This vibration in the speed pedals is extremely uncomfortable. It makes my leg go numb and all you can think of while driving is the vibration.

I took it to the dealership I bought it from and they said there is nothing wrong with the car. I took it to an independent garage and they said there is definitely a problem - their input was that the engine is vibrating and the engine mounts are stiff so I can feel the vibration throughout the car. They also couldn't fix it and asked me to take it back to Cadillac. I took it to another dealership but it was Buick, Chevy (not a Cadillac) dealership and they drove the car and confirmed that there is vibration in the car but they couldn't fix it either because they are not allowed to work on Cadillac cars. Then I took it to another Cadillac dealership (not the one I bought it from) and they said the same thing as the first Cadillac dealership that there is nothing wrong with the car.

The vibrations have become extremely uncomfortable for me. I have a long commute (around 125 kms each way) and not only the vibrations bother me a lot, it also makes my leg go numb which in turns make it unsafe for me to drive. Sometimes I have to pull over and take a break for few mins.

2. The interior rattles - there were so many rattles coming from the dashboard. When I took it back to the Cadillac dealership, they told me: "wait for 2 months, its a new plastic. Give it some time to settle and the noises will go away". I had never heard this before in my life (I have always bought brand new cars). When I took it to the 2nd Cadillac dealership, they laughed when I told them what the 1st dealership told me. They ended up fixing most of the noises but there are still some noises that come up when I am driving on certain types of roads. It sounds like its coming from the seat belt area to my left.

3. The memory seats doesn't remember the settings. Almost each time I sit in the car, I have to save my memory seats again. It works for a day or so then forgets the memory randomly.

4. The infotainment system has logged me out a few times out of all my accounts and settings. Its like everything reverts to the default settings as if I was just picking up the car. I have had to login multiple times and download all the apps etc a few times now.

5. The car decided to brake on its own. Thankfully the person behind me didn't hit me. I have been driving since then with collision detection system turned off.

6. This is not an issue but I consider it to be a borderline fraud from Cadillac. The steering wheel has the button to set the gap between you and the car in front. In all my previous cars, it was used for adaptive cruise control so that you can set the gap and your car will maintain that gap by stopping and going automatically. As I have a long commute, I used to rely on the adaptive cruise control a lot. Turns out that my car is not equipped with the adaptive cruise control (even though I was advised by the dealership that it was). If my car doesnt have the adaptive cruise control, I am failing to understand why is there a gap button at all in the car. What am I setting the gap for?

I took it to another dealership but it was Buick, Chevy (not a Cadillac) dealership and they drove the car and confirmed that there is vibration in the car but they couldn't fix it either because they are not allowed to work on Cadillac cars.
If they knew they couldn't work on a Caddy, why did they take it for a test ride? Sounds like maybe they didn't want to work on a vibration issue, because these can be hard to diagnose and fix, and just gave you that excuse.

FWIW, I've had 3 Cadillacs and all were worked on by non-Cadillac GM dealers (Chevy, etc.) including both warranty and non-warranty work. Never was an issue on any including my current XT4.

I believe we have all the same issues regarding night time low panel lights, rear lift gate only working 50% of time, and also rear backup alert and braking, which brakes hard when exiting garage into rain. What else you ask? Well passenger mirror base has a crack where it appears the solvent welding has failed. Hopefully dealer continues to work with us.

Multiple issues as we have had the car for 10 months and has been in the shop 3 of those months. We are leasing this car but luckily Cadillac did reimburse us 2 months of payments due to it being in the shop. The main computer module went out and took forever to resolve.

New issue and in shop now for the computer screen getting extremely HOT.........like can't touch it and it even did this in the winter months when it was not 90 to 100 degrees out. Also in shop for the issue with the sound just going out. Anyone else having similar issue?

My screen get extremely hot as well, been told by my Dealer that this is normal. 3 times since I purchased my car at the beginning of April my audio would not work, no radio, no phone calls, no communications with On Star, not even the turn signals would make any noise. This happened for the third time on Monday while leaving work, drove it straight to a local Dealership for the Service Advisors to see this in person. They scanned right away for any codes, Told there were stored codes for Failure to communicate. Dropped off the next day. Waiting for a call with what they have found.
