I figure that as long as there is a converter on there, and it's for that car, what's the big deal. Getting it changed may be somewhat of a hassle though. You may wish you would have had it done at a muffler shop, unless you have some tools to work with, like a torch etc.

 

Yea after some research it appears install of a direct fit OEM part wouldnt be a huge hassle after lifting the car. The odd thing though is the fume escape has stopped, its mid winter and was below zero all day. Could snow kicked up into the under body make temporary smoking or what would allow the converter to spew then seize doing so later?. Even revving the engine now I do not see any fumes escaping it.
