Yea or nay on this XT5

I'm eyeing trading in my ats for an xt5
Anyone have any experience or opinions about 2020 3.6 engine? Any questions you'd suggest asking about the vehicle prior to purchase? Price seems right and it's been a hard task finding one in that range with adaptive cruise control and that classic wood grain style....most I've seen 2019 onwards are all black or all Beige interior. Thanks in advance

Hey @alexinPA - I'm very skeptical of a GM vehicle sold by a Mitsubishi dealer! Any OEM original warranty that might have been available to you as a certified Caddy from a Caddy dealer is non-existent. A car with '3 minor' accidents is also a red flag in my book. There is a reason the price seems to be so reasonable. Car Gurus, from my perspective, cannot be relied upon - they have no 'horse in the race' at all. They are just analyzing the data (same as we all do). Finally, 51K miles on a 3 - 4 year old car also underscores why the price is lower than market. These are all signs to steer clear of this car!
I know you are not near me in the metropolitan New York area (since the zip code appears to be in Ohio, and your screen name says Pennsylvania), but, this link will give you an idea of some much better pre-owned certified XT5's with less mileage, no accidents, and much better buys (in my opinion), with significantly less unknowns. Some of the prices are a bit more but, you also have some additional peace of mind and the value is much greater. If you are not going to be doing the mechanical work yourself, you may want to look around a bit more!!
Here is that link: Search Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.
There is a good selection here - premium luxury, and sport trim levels.
If you spend some time looking at these (including the CARFAX), and the original window sticker, you'll have a much better idea of what you're getting yourself into. The way you are considering buying this car, I think there are too many unknowns that will become your problems down the road!

Sincerely appreciate your input regarding the sale of the vehicle by a non gm dealer. Curious, would you avoid a cadillac purchase in most any scenario where it not certified pre owned from GM dealer? If so, could you elaborate a little on why?

Dealership did offer window sticker and carfax soon as I expressed interested. Linked here

I could be very well be wrong. But I thought the GM warranty was only 3 years or 50k miles anyway. So wouldn't the car be out of warranty regardless of where it were sold? I also am somewhat concerned by the one "minor to moderate" on the report especially If it'd been an Ohio car where inspections aren't needed. As it seemed to really soon after manufacture and several NY inspections passed since. I found it a little less concerning. From my understanding NY has more stringent inspections laws than PA. Am I being obtuse in the assumption that passing NY inspection would mean a relatively clean bill of health?

again thank you very much for the input fron all who have the the time to reply. I'm relatively new to having the means for a purchase such as this, and it's definitely a big decision, so certainly am grateful for all the input

Hi again, @alexinPA - thanks for responding. I see that our colleague, @sonny3621, has already addressed the warranty concern. He also suggested having someone who is independent (and with your best interests in mind), check the car out for you mechanically. That way, you will have another objective assessment of the car.

For me, with such a purchase, I would think you would have more 'peace of mind', if there was some level of warranty from a Cadillac dealer. Is the present dealership offering you anything in terms of a warranty once you make the purchase and drive off the lot? I do see they are happy to offer you an aftermarket extended warranty. That can be a crap shoot too!
There are so many of these cars around (for sale) now, there is no reason to 'settle' on this one without looking at other inventory that is out there. That is why I sent you the link to my local dealer. You can get a good idea of what is around from that. I imagine you must have Cadillac dealers in your locale that are making similar offerings.
The same as I wouldn't buy a Chevy from a Ford dealer, I just don't think it is practical or makes sense to buy a car like this from the type of dealer who is selling every make and model out there.
As previously discussed, the accidents identified for this car are a definite red flag for me. There are much cleaner cars out there with one owner and no issues and lower mileage.
NYS inspections are a state formality and a 'money grab' - they do not mean anything in terms of the caliber or condition of the car. That is why, you either have to know what you're looking at or, use an independent to look it over or, go with the assurance of a certified pre-owned vehicle.
It must be exciting for you to be in this good financial situation that enables you to consider this purchase - I get it!
It is a big decision! Generally speaking, this is the 2nd most expensive purchase you will make (the first being a home), and so, you want to make sure you make a wise decision. That way you can get the most enjoyment possible from a car like this!

I just purchased a certified 2020 XT5 premium luxury with 23K miles from a Cadillac dealer. It was probably a bit more than if bought somewhere else. However they guarantee no accidents and also give an extra year on the warranty so that this one has B to B warranty untill Sept. of 2025 and also an extra year on the powertrain. It is an AWD 3.6 white tri-coat with the orange-brown leather and real wood. It has the upgraded 14 speaker Bose system, Nav, Pano sunroof, and all other standard premium luxury features, but no ventilated seats, adaptive CC or 3D camera or HUD. The car looks and drives like brand new and the wife and I are very happy with the purchase considering the new ones look exactly the same and are almost double the cost.. Gas mileage around town is not so great although the computer is showing the best 25 mile average since new was 35.8. At least it takes regular gas.

Welcome aboard, @greg128 - you're gonna love our little community here as well as this car you now have. Now you know what all of us do - what an outstanding car the XT5 is. it sounds like we have similar color schemes. Mine is a 2024 AWD PL (premium luxury) with the 3.6L, 6-cylinder engine and the technology package. I am enjoying this car all the time!!
