Fix may end up being better. New is nice but only if they have truly fixed the problem. I worry about getting new ones then having them go bad at lets say 80k after warranty. The facts are it is disappointing. Should not happen on a 20k car much less a 100k car. I guess only time will tell if the replacements will hold up. Let us know how the "wheel guys" work looks. Maybe send some pics. Might give folks an option to replacement especially if new ones end up going bad. Thanks!

Just purchased a 2019 CT6-V and my wheels are doing the exact same thing. I only have 4100 miles on the car. Hope warranty will cover...

Got my car back from dealer. Here are the wheels after being recoated. Not bad. Tried to take some pics of the imperfections but came out blurry. Just some small things such as dust or dirt under the clear. I pointed them out to the dealer and they said if there is any issues to bring it back and they'd have them redone again as long as its still under warranty. The real test is time.

Just an update on this one. The wheels the dealership ordered me that were on back order came in last week and I had them installed yesterday. Hopefully this new batch of wheels hold up over the long haul. Nice to have them!

I went and bought another set of the SHH wheels for my 19 V cause the originals had some strange scratches. We looked at the original (standard) V wheels and he told me that peeling is caused by corrosion under the clear coating. The take-offs I purchased had some light scratches. I tried some Mother's Aluminum Polish (tin can) and the scratches came out. The SHH wheels are polished aluminum and don't appear to have clear on them which gets cloudy if you try polish on them. As a poster above said, chrome plating has much more durability. You need to polish occasionally because chrome has small imperfections that eventually will lead to corrosion underneath the surface. Filling these imperfections with polish or was will seal them much like a painted surface.

Sorry for a delay, but my rims indeed started peeling massively in January. However they have just been replaced free of charge.

Just purchased a 2019 CT6 V Blackwing. 12,500 miles. Beautiful, but some issues, such as clear coat peeling on multiple rims. Can't believe I didn't see this before the purchase was finalized. Taking it to dealership next week, fingers crossed that I won't feel like I was duped.

Can you please share at which dealership you were able to have the rims replaced, "Free of Charge"? Meeting some preliminary resistance, and when I take mine in, I'd like to have as much information as possible.

Thanks

Would be Bentley Cadillac in Huntsville. There should be a notice out for all dealers to have these replaced. Let me see if I can have this looked at by a cadillac rep.

You can call over to the dealership service department, ask for “Jeff” (name is spelled Geoff) and ask to see if he can give you my case number for the rims peeling. Just tell him Nick sent you.

Then, call cadillac and use my case number as a reference.

Mine were covered under warranty and is now happening on 3 of the 4 rims. But the rims are on backorder. I also purchased the extra rim and tire warranty but it being covered under manufacturer.

They covered 3 of my 4 rims for the issue and told me they were defective and shouldn't of happened.
Does anyone have a case# or contact at GM? Dealership I went to said GM would not cover? Have it on 3 of 4 CT6-V rims.

They are supposed to cover it, they replaced all four of mine bran new. Are you the original owner of the vehicle? Also 600 fix dosent do a good job on these rims, issue will keep progressing.

It is a known bulletin, they have to replace it. If they are giving you issues, you need to request a Field representative from GM to take a look at it. GM and Cadillac knows about this issue, and we worked hard to get it known back in November and December of last year.

Yes, from this thread I see that, but, unfortunately my dealer Caddilac of Novi (MI) said they were not covered. (They took a picture and sent in through an app!?) When I questioned them about it and asked to speak with someone at GM, they said call the 800#... There is no one. When I asked the GM Ed Pobur, he said the same thing... Just a terrible experience with service and these guys! Buying the car: You are a KING.

Service, anything like that, worst, ever. Tim Wooster Service Manager.

Yes, I am the original owner.

Also, just a heads-up to my brothers (and sisters?) here... I had a Oil Control Valve that went bad and needed to be replaced. (Car shuts down to limited power mode... Crazy that should happen on a hand built $100k automobile, but, stuff happens) They did fix that, but still wanted to speak to someone at GM about all of it. Want to keep this car a long time.

Well there's my "rant"... Any contacts, real help, much obliged!

Going to try another dealer, next.

Going to another dealer, try it.

Thank you Nicholas!

(Along with Engine Oil Valve Controller, you may want to know about premature brake pad warning, brake fade/failure Recall (some states), brake lock-up on malfunctions with pedestrian/front collision system. 2019's. I am from Detroit. Guess I could just drive down to GM headquarters... But Cadillac is now based out of NY, I think.

If you need to, (and have the time) you can call my dealership and see if they can pass along my incident number from when my rims peeled. Geoff is my main service tech so usually it’s best to speak with him.
Just explain your situation and tell him Nick recommended you to talk with him since he is versed in the issue.

while although nice when they had “House of Cadillac”, the whole Cadillac in New York thing never worked out and ended up costing GM a ton of money. They moved back to MI in 2019 I believe.

I called Geoff, he was not able to get me the #'s. Could you send along to me?

My dealer service, sucks.
Here's an update on service needs:

Engine power mode still cuts out at times, even after replacing the oil pressure valve.

Brake sensor says I need new brakes? (Dealer says so too, but doubt they looked at them)

Brakes groan at slow stop.

Rear passenger sun shade makes noise. (After they said they fixed it under warranty)

Needs all (4) New tires 20,000 miles. Anyone replace with something else?

Still love the power & car! but quircky...

Let me see what I can do. Did he give you a reason as to why he couldn’t give you the number?

Additionally I went with the Mich PS4s for my replacements. (Additionally, the engineers said that if the F1s never existed, this would be the tire the car came with by default)

I did a full write up and comparison of them and the F1s here on Facebook.

Update: New Dealer Suburban Caddilac Troy, MI (They are getting ALL 4 rims replaced. He took one look at them and said, I can get these replaced..." Took pics and next day approved. Cadillac of Novi, MI... Not covered. Even under Wheel & Tire Platinum Package. Worst service Dealer ever. Trying Suburban, Troy, MI. Keep you all posted) - (Your dealer did not say. But thank you for the reference!)
