The clock adjust screen will come up after touching and holding for a couple seconds the clock area on the screen but none of the adjusting "buttons" are functional.

This is happening after an issue last evening where the car would not start until after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Even then I had to put the keyless start switch in accessory mode first and then was able to start the car.

Any ideas on the clock adjust issue as well as what may have caused the "no start" issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a 2011 STS will you please pm me.thanks
If you still don't get a PM, all you need to do is post a message with your email address like others have on this page and previous ones and someone should send it to you. If you are concerned about posting the email address, sign up for another account like a gmail one which you can use again for just these types of situations where you don't want to post a certain email address. There is a good reason why the actual files are not being posted and haven't been here.

Also, on a related note (since the clock issue is related to the GPS) - does anyone know where you can get your hands on a real map DVD for the navigation unit? There are so many bogus links when you search for it. I don't mind paying for it, but I want to know that I'm buying a real DVD that will actually work. Thanks!

Welcome to CF !!! There are quite a few "2005 Cadillac STS v8" cars here in Cadillac Forums. I changed your thread title to be a bit more descriptive of your problem.

Try to Google "cadillac forums 2005 STS clock operation" or something close.

Here's a quickie search .........

And a CF thread -

Hi Detective,
Just fixed my 2008 STS-V Navigation No Clock Displayed and No GPS Signal Displayed, successfully by following the posted instructions pieced together from a few different posts:

Cadillac STS radio with RPO YQ4
1. The website below depends on the model year of the Cadillac STS.
1.A. For navigation radio in 2008 STS with RPO YQ4, go to website
https://tis2web.akamai.gm.com/radio/STS_GPS_MY_08_Fix.zip
1.B. For navigation radio in 2009-2011 STS with RPO YQ4, go to website
https://tis2web.akamai.gm.com/radio/STS_GPS_MY_09_11_Fix.zip
2. "Format as a CD" not as a USB, then burn the LOADING.KWI to the root of a CD-R or DVD-R (CD-RW has not been tested). Other files can be on the CD, but it is not advised.
– Root
– —> LOADING.KWI
3. Make sure the vehicle is outside and the engine is running.
4. Power on the radio and eject the NAV disc and insert the burned CD. The update will start automatically. Quickly the Nav screen will turn white with the text about a system update in progress and a green progress bar. Takes about 5 minutes then it resets. The vehicle logo will be displayed once the update is completed.
5. Swap the burned CD with the Nav disc. A few minutes later there will be a GPS signal and a clock.

Johnny

ps: the clock will automatically eventually fix itself for 2005 thru 2007, but the date will be whacked like for many years ago. But you’ll have a clock displayed.

You people are posting your e-mail addresses in plain sight in a HUGE worldwide site - guaranteed to go to every scammer on the planet.

We suggest that you use our in-house messaging system. Hover over the recipient's avatar and use the Message tab to Start Conversation - the equivalent of the old PM - Private Message - system.

Thanks for the explanation but in searching for the PM issue, I could not find how to do that and others apparently could not as well. But this is why I mentioned before to use an email which is not your primary one. Keep in mind that our email addresses are probably out there already due to all of the various breaches with Yahoo, Equifax etc.

Why don't you list this info here instead of sending emails?

I am merely following what has been done previously here by experienced and not so experienced members since posting the actual sites could cause a problem if GM decides to change the link. Dealers want to charge you to fix something you can do yourself. By posting all of that, it could cause them to disable the links or change them. But since you put it up, we will have to see.

I am just helping others as other members have done for me without possibly causing future issues. If the links go down, then only members or someone with the actual files would be able to assist.

My '06 needs a battery and one is on order at Pep Boys. The service manager claims that they use the OBD port to maintain voltage to all "settings" while changing the battery. Any feedback/insight would be appreciated regarding this proposition.

Also, kevm14 posted this link to his solution on page 37 of this thread:
08 STS battery...again

His solution is along the lines of my thinking until I spoke with Pep Boys guy...

His solution was to supply voltage and ground from a surrogate battery - "For a ground I ended up going on one of the front suspension bolts. It worked nicely with the jaws of my jumper cables. For 12V I had a more difficult time finding something. I removed the fuse/relay box cover and ended up backing off the nut to the main feed and jammed a wire under the nut and tightening that down. This would back feed the whole car."

Hello, I replaced my battery in a 2006 STS and looking for the Loading.kwi
Can anyone please tell me where I can find it or send it to my email rosalk@tds.net or send me a link to download.

Thank you,
There is no fix for the 05-07's, only 08+ - It will start working again August 16th 2020...

GREAT NEWS!!!! TO ME!!! My clock was working this morning, when I headed out for work.. I was happy to see it after the dealer disconnected my battery months ago. I was told they were working on a fix. Apparently they were.(y) I see the date will correct 8/16/2020. I will be patient. It will probably happen before then. Some of my buttons are unresponsive at times. Denso will probably issue updates along the way. They deserve an applause in my opinion. Seeing the clock again, gives my patient hope.

Read the following post which sounds similar to what you're reporting. The person had swapped out on 05 unit for an 08 one:

I had my software updated at the dealer prior because I couldn't read a newer Navi disk. They performed the TSB that was needed then. I am pretty sure it was the original radio because everything worked prior to me updating with the new firmware.

Ran the 2008 update on my 2006. Clock came back instantly but the voice recognition button was killed...Oh well. The ride control settings are now on the 1st screen of the config menu now too.

I'll take this as a win as I have my clock back after almost a year!!!

Date is correct too.

This is great news. I haven't had to disconnect the battery yet, but it will happen some day.

I had figured I'd have to swap in a 2008 nav and update that, but it sounds like your 2006 nav got turned into a 2008.

Hopefully some of the obscure things work still like surround sound (which I use).

I do have the previous firmware update in my 06 nav, if that part of the theory about why this new 08 update works is true.

I'll still wait until I lose the clock to start with, or probably if I decide to sell.

  • Adaptive cruise control and gap steering wheel button - Validated
