Unable to adjust clock--2008 STS wi Navigation

The clock adjust screen will come up after touching and holding for a couple seconds the clock area on the screen but none of the adjusting "buttons" are functional.

This is happening after an issue last evening where the car would not start until after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Even then I had to put the keyless start switch in accessory mode first and then was able to start the car.

Any ideas on the clock adjust issue as well as what may have caused the "no start" issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

What are you talking about? That's exactly what he said in the post. "SW" or software is referred to as firmware when it's burned into a permanent or semi-permanent storage medium inside the radio. Before you beak off, maybe you should learn a little more about technology. The piece about clocks resolving next year have nothing to do with the fix that's coming. That will only fix the time, not the time and date the way the upcoming "FIRMWARE" fix will.

Its as simple as burning a cd and popping it in. No need to secret menu software dump or anything. Just copy, insert, wait to load, done. Clock comes back almost instantly for people then.

Unfortunately its official and there will be NO update for the 05-07 guys.

Who here wants to attempt swapping an 08+ radio in. I can say for sure the face is different colored slightly so it wont match the HVAC. I have heard news that if you have an 07 with the preset switch it wont work? I have no solid intel on this though.

I have an 05 and an 07 so I was really looking for a viable fix.

Bummer, I have an '06, but not for long. Fortunately, that won't kill the trade-in value since there isn't much anyway, but it will affect brand what I replace it with. My GM service writer's carpal tunnel may get better after my STS gets picked up by Rawhide Boy's Ranch as soon as a find a replacement. Supposed to snow 2"~4" tomorrow and I hate driving my van in snow, so the hunt for a winter car begins in earnest today. :(

Ha! Just changed 6-yr old battery on 2008 STS-V a week ago and dashes on the clock, thought I'd "poke around a bit" to see if I get lucky. Great info on this 40-page post that just took 30 minutes of my life away, that is much appreciated. Hopefully, I waited until just in time on battery swap, will be checking in regularly now. Again, thanks for all the info and many of you pursuing this - had no idea it was such an issue until today.

OK . Please PM me. I have several 2008 STS, all 4.6. One is a Platinum. Some AWD and some RWD. I also have a 2011 V6 STS. All have the nav radio. I am very sure. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
