So what are your top 5 modifications for the CTS-V? Ones that you'd perform on a new V?

1. CAGS Eliminator
2. Air Intake?
3. Front Strut Tower Bar?
4. Cat Back Exhaust
5. Modified Throttle Body?

#4 · (Edited)
(I meant an improved Strut Tower Bar (BMR?))

Volant air intake? or is it a waste of time - the CTS-V box is pretty well sealed against engine heat and smooth-flowing already.

CAGS is number one, then the shifter BUT with the Lindsay bushings. They go together. My next mod is decent tires RSA not good. I've not heard anything good about CAI other than perhaps a bit of noise (if you want more noise).
Then depends what you want. Some want handling, some want drag racing etc so your mods will depend on your interest.

Complete UUC shifter kit.
Exhaust.
V1 custom mount.
Maggie.
Specter Werks bushing inserts.
Not in that order.
Love my suspension, but its rare that I get to really use it.
Obviously this list is from the mods I already have. If I could pick anything, I'd drop it off at Mallet/Katech for a few weeks.

Cat back exhaust, headers, cold air intake, port TB/intake, and tune

#89 ·
1. shifter [done]
2. headers [done]
3. tune [waiting for warm weather to complete]
4. KARS [aren't we all waiting]
5. Zoomers cat back [done]

The only other in top five would be the FG2 shocks. [done]
I guess if you finish you get to wish for 5 more?! Then I have to ask if it is almost impossible to get, do you get to replace that one with an alternate? [KARS]:stirpot:

This is a function of how much you wanna spend.

If money is a concern:
1. B&M shifter w/ UUC bushings
2. Ground Control
3. KARS Stage III
4. StealthV Tune
5. Magnaflow

Money is no object:
1. Maggie w/2.6" w/8-rib pulley system
2. Headers/Hi-Flo Cats/Exhaust
3. '09 CTS-V Diff
4. Dyno Tune
5. B&M/UUC/Katech shifter w/UUC bushings

Bag the CAI, and let the tuner get rid of the CAGS.

Honerable mention:
6. Hotchkis anti-sway bars
7. FG2 shocks (if you don't already got 'em)
8. Spare tire kit
9. Clear bra
10. Shift knob of your choice

Ok ive ordered the shifter, ill call tomorrow and get the bushings, my number is 549-8750 my name is Luke give me a call when you get a chance we will install this shifter hopefully ill get all the parts this week sometime. Ive got the cags i need to put in to, just got the car back for a pinion seal and clutch replacement last week. So i havent put it in yet either figured we can do it when we are down there.

Good choice on the Magnaflow.
How much did you offer? You can usually get them for about $600.

#39 ·
Got mine shipped for $543 last year. Sometimes I'd like it louder. But on a long trip, I like it quiet. So the Magnaflow is a good trade-off.

I would say:
1- UUC Shifter (the whole shabang I.E.- bushings + knob)
2- Tune (has built in cags)
3- Catback of your choice (I love my Corsa, but I probably would have went with B&B if I did it again)
4- Headers (I've got Kooks on the way, but I know they will be on my top 5 fav....)
5- Specter Werkes Bushings (again, they're not installed yet but I know I will love them)

Obviously a Maggie is way up on the list, but I wouldn't get it without getting atleast these mods first...

If money was no object:

1) Fully built Warhawk, w/225 AFRs and a nasty cam, at 12:1, or go with 10:1 compression and add a TT kit with 18-20psi
2) Madman custom rear-end with 411s
3) Powerglide tranny
4) Tub it/Flare kit with 335/30/18 Nitto 555 'R' extremes
5) Wilson Manifold's custom 2-stage 500 shot of Nitrous

Of course you probably meant practical 'street' mods, so:

1) Headers, either Kooks 1 7/8 or B&Bs
2) B&B exhaust with X-pipe, best looking by a mile!!!
3) Dyno tune, eliminates need for CAGS
4) Shifter, you use this almost a few hundred times each week
5) A savings account to start you on you way to owning Ms. Maggie

Performance (starter)
1. Cags/Shifter/Bushing/Knob
2. Catback exhaust
3. Non-runflats w/ spare & jack kit / Hawk Pads / Slotted Rotors
4. Upsized sways
5. Tune (subscription)

Performance (with tune after each engine mod)
1. Kooks headers w/ Jet Hot ceramic coating
2. KarsIII / Coil overs / QA1 shocks
3. Radiator / Oil/Power Steering Fluid Cooler
4. Tranny / Clutch
5. Maggie / Throttle body / Walbro pump / Alcohol

Then start thinking about cams, heads, bottom end.

Appearance
1. Clear bra (on new paint)
2. Wheels
3. Spoiler
4. Clear side markers/fog lenses
5. LED's

Thanks for all the GREAT replies! I'm new to the forum with a '05 CTS-V but have modified many cars in the past. (including my 1970 VW) I always like to know what the existing car guys/gals think!

Seems like the shifter is the #1 recommendation but, wow, does it look tough to install.

#53 ·
It's not tough, don't worry.

Nothing to do at work, so I added everything up.
Just the stuff in my sig cost me $10,200. Didn't count the tires but I did count the Hawk pads.
That said, a lot of the stuff I got a deal on. This "saved" me about $3600. I put everything on myself, so no labor. I also did not include the stuff no longer on the car. I wont even get into all the miscellaneous things here and there.
I bought the car 8/14/07
:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:
Bought mine 1/21/08 stock except for FG2s and I count about $8k looking at my sig. :drunkpair:
