Text messages not coming in

Anyone else having this problem? I checked my phone Bluetooth settings, under myCadillac and everything is turned on for: calls, audio, contact access and message access. My phone vibrates when someone texts me, but nothing comes up on the screen.
Hands-free phone calling works fine.

Am I missing a setting somewhere? I even read the manual.... nothing mentioned about text messages! Is this feature not available on the XT4. It was on my 2017 XT5.

I have the Premium Luxury model.

Any help?

Thanks,
Mark D.

Thanks Cutlass. If that's true... that sucks!
I haven't tried setting up Android Auto yet. I will try tomorrow, I've been trying to avoid it. I don't like the fact of having to plug in the phone every time i get in the car. What I hear is, if you don't.... it is a big battery drainer.

Thanks again!

Mark JD It seems to work perfectly fine for me and I am not connected to Apple CarPlay with a cord.

I place my iPhone into the wireless charging holder and then If I happen to hear a new text message come in while I am parked or driving all I have to do is hit the "Speak" button on my steering wheel and I say "Read Text Message" and the new text message comes through the speaker system. It will then ask me "do I want to reply back yes or no?"

Then if I want to send a new text message all I have to do is hit the "Speak" button again on my steering wheel and say "send text message to "Person's Name" and it will say "Ok what do I want to say" etc.

Very interesting Marc. That's how it worked on my XT5.
I wonder if it matters that you have an iphone? I have a Samsung S9+. When you receive a text is your alert notification audible through the car or just your phone? I don't have wireless charging either.

It may be a similar case to what I had to do with my ‘17 GMC. When I first Bluetooth paired my phone, text didn’t work. I had to find some settings on my phone to allow notifications specifically for this Bluetooth device. I have an iPhone 8. I think I had to touch the lowercase/circled “i” next to GMC Intellilink device in the Bluetooth menu.

I am not using Apple CarPlay. If I do I get the notification on the screen. I don't use Apple CarPlay because I like to leave my phone in its belt case instead of getting it out and connecting a cable. I don't mind not getting a notification on the screen but I would like for my phone to beep when I get a text message.

I think you are correct in that I (we) might not get a beep when I (we) receive a text message. Now that I have wireless pad connection I rarely connect to Apple CarPlay anymore. The only time I will connect is if I am going on a longer ride or trip.

They only concern I have now is I have to remember to take the phone out when I leave the XT4. I can't tell you how many times I have left the phone in the wireless charging pad and had to come back out to get my phone... LOL

My 2016 CTS received text messages through the CUE system and worked great. However, my new XT4 would not. I checked every setting on my phone and QUE to no avail. I finally asked my salesperson and was told that the feature was disabled and the only alternative is Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Kali,
I got the same answer. I think it sucks. I hate using the Android Auto, as there is too much to do. You have to have your phone out (instead of just leaving it your pocket, purse or belt clip) and it must be plugged in with a USB cable, which means you can't have a memory stick with your music in the USB port at the same time (my XT5 had 2 USB ports). Then you have to activate the app on your phone, and oh yeah.... don't forget your phone when you exit the car!
The XT5 was so much easier. When my phone received a text it came up on the screen. THAT SIMPLE! How easy was that.

Any help?

Thanks,
Mark D.
I had wondered the same thing, not available but it was on my ford escape. You have to connect android or apple car play for this i beleive.

Same issue for me. Brand new 2020 XT6, fully loaded. SUV is great and everything works EXCEPT no SMS TEXTS ! So annoying since it was so easy on older Caddies. I realize that I have to use Android Auto and have installed and deleted it several times. Actually got it to work once, but gone again after I turned the car off.

I have the 2019 XT4 and I had messages on my car since the day I got it in October 2018.I also had the same feature on my 2018 XT5. It was great. My messages showed up and I could listen to them and reply by either hitting preprogrammed responses or by typing in my own reply when car was stopped. I LOVED THIS MESSAGING FEATURE. I do not remember exactly but I think I had to go into APPS and hit the SMS app and connect it to my phone. BUT SUDDENLY IN OCTOBER 2019 THE APP DISAPPEARED AND CADILLAC thinks I am crazy and they say no other XT4 has messaging. BUT I KNOW I DID. HOW DO I GET IT BACK????

I HAVE THE XT4. I HAD MESSAGES. They were available in the APP screen. I chose the APP for making. They showed up on my display and I could reply. THEN THEY DISAPPEARED. NO MORE MESSAGES AND NO MORE APP AND I CAN'T GET THEM BACK.

Seems like many people are complaining about not getting our texts on infotainment system. I am one. 2017 XT5 was great. 2020 XT5, nothing!!! Why would they stop this through a bluetooth connection. Who or how can we complain to Cadi about this!! It was also a safety feature that you dont have to look at your phone when it pings just look at the screen. Sad they did this.
