Did you have the grill off?
If you forgot to plug in a connector you might have "broken" the high speed can bus. That could cause the problems you are describing.

Also, the LED fog lamps might not be compatible with the vehicle. That could cause the loss of power on the fog lamp circuit.

Or, all these mods are made up and this is just another way to get more attention.

Finally, project complete!

It took a bit of experimenting to get the exact look I imagined for both the mesh grille and the various lighting elements. I'm pleased with the final results it looks crisp and bright both day and night. It gives my 2012 Coupe a much more modernized and cleaner look.

I refinished the flat stainless steel mesh kit with a high gloss crystal black finish. I prepped first by painting all the busy silver cooling system elements behind in black as well to keep distractions to a minimum. All the grille emblem mounting hardware and LED backlight element are hidden from view, so only the chrome logo and frosted background surround diffuser are visible from the street.

The LED Cadillac emblem and angular center-mount lower mesh grille accent lamps are tied into the nearby fog lamp power circuit. The design is based on a genuine deconstructed modern chrome CTS grille emblem (with the coloured fill elements removed), giving it a clean white and chrome monochromatic look similar to the new Lyric EV grille emblem. The backlight element is an aftermarket "LED dome light" fixture mounted behind the grille, which contains 36 of the brightest 2050 LED chips, covered with a sanded plastic reflector lens, for even light distribution.

Total cost: $50 for the entire project (including 3 spare LED fixtures for the emblem - plus many hours of thought on design and craftsmanship to get everything just right.

I also made a standard color version LED emblem, which I didn't like as much - I'll post a photo of that tomorrow.

Cheers!

BTW the ignition switch failure I was having was just due to cranking the wheel so far to the left to get access into the wheel well that it caused the system to lock up. I just used the remote start feature to start the car, and then everything was fine.

Plus I had the polarity backwards on the LED fog lights. Duh! Slept on it and thought it through. All fixed now.

Yes I replaced the grille so I had to take the bomber off to remove the old one - especially for the bottom grille. The bumper removal turned out to be the easiest part taking about 15 min. I was sweating that one, but no need to. Whole project would have taken a day, but it rained on me so I spit it up into two half days.

Just noticed your last sentence. Nice. Why is everyone so hostile and rude in this forum. I'm new here. I came from Jaguar Forums where everybody is friendly and helpful at any stage of a project. Thanks much for your "support". I'll be sure to keep my ideas and progress to myself in the future.

This forum, for the most part isn’t too much different than anywhere else on the internet meaning there’s going to be no shortage of opinions, but generally the folks here are knowledgeable, mature, and respectful.

I honestly think It’d be much better to sort of roll with the punches rather than stop and point them out because opinions will never stop nor does 1 or a few represent a whole community of people on this or any other forum.

Not saying you did in any way, but just as an example we all face times when we’ll lose an argument or get proven wrong, but in no way does that mean the end of you nor does it mean you can’t have a civil discussion with that same person in another thread about a different subject. There’s no real way I can further convince you.. The best way to find out is to continue asking any questions you may have.

Generally speaking, car people are car people.. I have a hard time believing we’re that different simply based on what kind of car we happen to drive. Very few people are That loyal.

Well NOTHING IS WORKING NOW

I CAN'T EVEN TURN ON THE IGNITION. NOTHING.

HELAP, DEAD IN THE WATER - SUggestions, ideas?!?!?

Another thing.. You started this thread back in November, and didn’t provide any sort of an update until just a few days ago here in January where your post included those quotes that I’ve highlighted.^

Those are pretty bold statements in all caps... With only words to go on, how are we to know the car hasn’t been “dead in the water” since your last post in November? We had never even seen an actual picture of your car. File photos don’t exactly make a great 1st impression... Thats why some people were wondering what was really going on.

-Btw, nice job on the grill emblem. Looks professionally made.

Emblem looks incredible! I would love to have one!

So if I was going to be hostile and rude the last sentence is all I would have posted, right?
I would ask you to look at it from my point of view.
You showed up 3 months ago flashed some photoshopped stock images and claimed you had done this. (copied directly from your first post)

"So, I redesigned the front end by installing an updated black hex mesh grille along with some angled accent lighting and an illuminated, Lyric inspired, stylized Cadillac logo" emblem."

Notice the words by installing.. As in already have done.
The images were called out as photoshop.
You were asked for some pics "or it didn't happen"
No response but you did eventually say it was a work in progress.
Many requests, no pictures and then you left for three months.
On your return lots of talk but still no pictures.

I don't know if you have noticed this but not everyone is honest on the internet. Sometimes people even lie about doing things they haven't done and try to convince people they really did them.
When people do things like that it looks almost exactly like what you have posted.

I think what you did looks great, I really do. I am also impressed you did it all yourself. That's really very nice work. I am also sorry you took my snark a little more serious than it was meant.
But maybe if you go back and read your own posts with the above comments in mind you might understand where I was coming from.

Sorry for the hurt feelings
Craig

@CSIMME01. Well said, I completely agree.

Btw I just noticed my previous post #26
contained a couple of typos that that I’ve gone back and corrected..

I HAD in fact installed both a different mesh grille and a different LED grille emblem when I wrote that post that looked much like the photoshop images. I didn't like it because it didn't look or work right,m so I never posted photos. I sat on it for 2 months thinking it couldn't be done, but finally after much trial and error with various logos, led fixtures and a better mesh grille kit, I finally ended up with the finished design you see above - which is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I wasn't trying to fool anyone with photoshopped images - I'm a graphic designer, and I make a photoshop comp of EVERYTHING I design, so I can visualize what it will look like...and experiment a bit with the design. It took 2-3 months of futzing to get it the way I liked, and fabricated the whole thing in a way that worked. that's when I posted the "finished photos." It just took time to build a heavy duty, waterproof version that didn't stick out, nor have visible hardware to mar the appearance. There' a bit of evolution between the first photo and the last photos.

That is a great explanation of all the photos and the time it took from the first post to final product.
If I would have known even a few of those details there would have never thought you trying to feed me a line bull.
If only I had known..

The emblem looks awesome. Super impressive. I like it more than the original design. I would say that this one is more accurate while the original was an abstract take on the Cadillac logo.

I'd also love to see a photo of the standard color version LED emblem you mentioned.
