Has anyone tried to program a key fob using the instructions in the owners manual. I have tried several times. No Joy!
I will prolly just take it somewhere to get it programmed.

Do you mean you are trying to program the seats to the key fob? If so, you need to make sure you are programing the correct key fob to the seat number. They don't tell you this info.... I received two key fobs. I wanted to use the nicer looking key fob that wasn't worn out as much as my main key fob. So I was trying to program key fob #2 with seat #1. Doesn't work that way. If that is what you are trying to do, try the other key fob. And if it does work, take the key out of the fob and label each fob 1 and 2 so you will know which is which going forward.

The OP has a '19 XTS, so I don't understand why he is trying to program it. With mine there are no numbered 1 and 2 key fobs, but just two key fobs ie. no numbers on the fob, where as with my '04 SRX the key fob was numbered 1 and 2. I took one and my wife the other but she is not able to drive. With the one I took, I set all my preferences and saved them. So now I get in the cluster that I am driver 1. My wife has the 2nd fob in her purse, but I wrapped it in tin foil to prevent the signal being read by the car...sometimes the car would read hers instead of mine, and would say I'm driver 2...she has it in her purse in case I ever encounter trouble with mine. I wonder if I took hers (and gave her mine) and set my preferences, would it would say I was driver 1 or driver 2...

One thing to note, there is a difference in just adding a new key fob and programming a new fob to a memory seat position.
Adding a fob will likely add it Memory position #3 which won’t automatically recall memory driver #1 or #2.
You need to ask for it to be programmed to position 1 or 2 if you want it to function with memory recall.

I did use fob#1 for my self , in first time I did use fob#1 I did start the car & do all the adjustment that I want , then I switch the car off , I keep it away then I used the fob#2 to start the car also to do the 2nd setting & the adjustment for my wife to the 2nd fob , after that I did test the both & they work fine with me , also I did reprogram a 3rd fob but without any setting , I did follow this YouTube steps to add a 3rd fob

The video says this will only work for '13 to '16 MYs (no mention of '17 or '18, But in the comments section if says you need TWO fobs in order to program a third, and gives the link below for the procedure on an '18 XTS.
