I had the same problem, one side only. Had the dealer do the work. They painted the peeling area and clear coated the entire fascia. Overall, they did a good job with the paint. Unfortunately, they messed up the front radar sensors and I had to wait more than a week to get it replaced. No excuse for any car let alone one over 100k!

Has this been an issue with any other colors? Seems weird that it would just be one color if the issue is supposedly the prep.

 

I think brake dust has flew up on the side off mine and eat through the clear coat some . This blows my mind I’m ready to have my lawyer follow up on this problem because I don’t want this problem to cost me 30grand on trade

Update on my paint issue. Cadillac is picking up my Escalade tomorrow and replacing the side trim, and all black trim around the windows. Only took a month from when they ordered the parts to when they were ready to fix it.

 

800 miles on my new Sport ESV, same peeling as mentioned in this thread. Best course of action is to contact the local dealership I assume?

Edit: mine was produced in late May/early June for reference.

I’d presume you would go to closest dealer to have it fixed.

That’s absolutely awful. For this to happen to any car let alone one that’s 100K+. Completely unacceptable. Some have contacted GM others have gone directly to dealer.

It’s crazy that the most expensive “color” is the one it seems to be happening to. For the record mine is the same white tricoat. I check it daily for the paint issue. Right now mine is at the dealer for another issue… no idea when I’ll be getting it back.

 

How long has the front bumper paint job been taking for some of your dealers? Trying to plan around not having our new SUV for a while... It also has the "Service Braking Assist" message, which I'm told might just be a module update (?).

 

Engineeering came out & replace the entire front fascia. Had the issue twice.

 

So it’s been interesting. They brought it back on Monday, only doing part of the repair. The trim they did replace already started bubbling after 48 hours. They still have zero idea what the cause is.

 

Where do you live? do you park outside on sunny days.... any change you park in the driveway of a newer-ish home (built in the last 15 years.) As I mentioned on another thread.... it is very common for plastic parts on cars to be melted by the sun reflecting off of new low-e windows on a home (usually from the second story.) The glass in some Low-e windows is slightly concave (a defect I believe) and this makes things even worth. The sun will move across the sky and basically become a laser beam slowly moving across your driveway melting anything that gets in its way. This is real... it happens. Was your car outside in the sun in the 48 hours after you picked it up from the new trim being installed? at work, at home, etc.

 

People have mentioned how low E window glass panes are known to cause melting on cars. Are you parking in same spot in front of big windows by chance? Just google and you can read about it. Tint on house/business window can fix the issue from what I have read. Usually a linear concentrated burn. Example link. Glare from energy-efficient windows can melt siding, vehicles :: WRAL.com

 

I’m not. That would actually be reassuring if I could figure out the issue.

Thanks Phoenixx! I have the Satin Steel Metallic so the problem is not just the white. Dealer fixed the LH side and had to clear coat the entire fascia. This caused it to be slightly darker than the rest of the vehicle. Not happy...BUT now the problem is on the RH side so looks like we are in for a complete replacement since it cannot be clear coated again. Rest of the paint is about what I would expect on a GM vehicle.

 

I also have paint chipping but it is more than just the bumper area. It is also on the top near the back hatch. See picture.

Not an area most would see unless you get on a step stool to dry off the top.

I had the exact same problem. Same color, both sides, etc. Your pictures look just like mine. So sad.

 

Same issue 400 miles just picked it up last week.

 

Add another one with a 2021 bumper paint issue. Both sides. What was the verdict for others who were impacted? Do they just touch up the spots? Do they repaint the entire front fascia? Will it happen again unless the replace? I haven't take it in to the dealer yet...just trying to prepare and make sure it gets fixed properly.

Just had this happen on an Escalade Sport white diamond tricoat manufactured feb 2022 and stumbled on this forum. Super annoying they haven’t fixed this issue yet. Is it more of a rubbing issue from tight panel contact or paint adherence issue? Also will they send a factory repainted bumper if you push them too?

Prices don’t matter to a robot. They paint it all the same. Paint is an issue with all brands.

 

Right. I believe there's a class action lawsuit on Lexus vehicles. The clear coat was completely failing.

Paint isn't as good as it was decades ago due to environmental concerns.

 

Not surprised, black in person looks terrible. I've never seen that much orange peel in my life. Hopefully this changes by the time I get mine.

 

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I have a 23 Prem Lux and there’s these two dark marks on the bumper from something.

 

I was wondering the exact same thing. We have a 23 white sport and I tried buffing it out by hand thinking we scuffed it up. Wonder if there's a sensor behind causing this.
