Uh Oh, the trans is in the middle of taking a death roll, again. The tech who rebuilt the trans said he ran out assembly lube after he rebuilt mine. Apparently my 6l80 was the 4th or 5th one he rebuilt last month.

He pulled the trans after the first rebuild and found a bad bearing. Apparently there was more carnage going on inside than he thought. It sounds like a new year’s rattle you spin around when in drive. [emoji20] sigh

I have to admit that GM is a very low quality brand.
I had several cars during my life but not even Fiat is so unreliable.
I sold the Range Rover Vogue Thinking he had too many problems but cadillac has twice as many. Every little part is of poor quality. I own a 2016 Porsche Panamera and have never had a single problem even though it has almost the same miles. Cadillac 62000 vs Porsche 50000

I’m more concerned about the inconvenience I’ll have for another week or two while it’s being repaired. 170k out of an AWD trans with an unknown service history is a another long, boring stretch I look forward to.

I knew it was destined to go back after one bearing was damaged. I used to freak out on this kinda stuff. Now that I realize it’s all just rubber, glass & metal, I roll with it.

Bummer, the ESV is still in the Indi shop for the re-replacement of the trans. The diagnosis … a pin came out of the regulator. The shop was supposed to have it wrapped up today but parts aren’t showing up from the dealership.

We’re down to having just wife’s convertible beetle to get up around. Surprisingly, I’m not worried much. There’s easy, open communication via phone, v/m & text on the status plus the shop is 1/4 mi away. It’s also nice I’m welcome in the service bays.

Being on great terms with the repair shop is always a blessing. Usually, there is a lot less chance of them pulling a fast one on a good customer. I like to do my own repairs to save money but the older I get the better it looks for someone else to deal with it! It's rewarding but my body hurts a lot longer.

Picking up the new rig tomorrow so I have not even thought about the transmission in mine lately. I have to deal with the pile of motorhome stuff in my carport first! Most of it will go into the new motorhome. Less belly storage room in the new one.

I got the Escalade back last Friday with a new trans, totally rebuilt, again. By Saturday it had a U0100 & U0101. There’s likely a harness kink or loose terminal.

The trans is as it should be, unnoticeable and does everything that’s asked of it. It’s going to be a week or two before I can dig into the laundry list of To Do things on the list.

Last time I had a trans totally rebuilt (only 60k miles) was in the Range Rover Vogue, 4900 euro.
After two years I felt something go wrong again and I sold the car immediately.

As soon as I read the TSB that included my 08 YXL Denali for transmission issues, I started formulating a plan to sell it in 20. I dodged that bullet at 140k on the trans. Hopefully the new owner got even more life from it.

Hey does anyone know where the fuses are located for the o2 heaters, TCM & BCM?

I’m not sure if the truck would even run if they were blown, but I’d like to check them.

3 of the DTCs say problem with the B1S1 O2 ( left side, before CAT)

HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 1 Sensor 1
Could also be a wiring problem for that O2, the heater circuit or fuse for it

Lost Communication with TCM, I do not know for your vehicle when BCM is but normally close
to another fuse panel that are for circuits for non engine functions and the GMLAN/CAN network
right by BCM

You could do a test by un-connecting wiring connector to TCM and then see if other DTCs trip and
if tranny functions any different.

Check fuses for O2 heaters, TCM and BCM ?

Here's a link to the 2022 post when the Cocoa Carpet Conversion started. There's info on compatibility between different years and colors too... 2022 Cocoa Carpet Swap from Light Linen

For the last three years I’ve been thinking my interior combo Cocoa / Light Linen was not the same as the tan color of the other GM line ups. I pulled up the center hard plastic, carpeted, 2nd row seat base surrounds.

Wow! They must have bleached the carpet when this truck was detailed. The new little carpet mat for the 3rd row is a dead match for the untouched factory carpet under the 2nd row seats.

I’ll betcha can’t guess what I’m doing today.

I took my time and started from the back of the truck removing the trim. There's no easy way you can get the carpet out without undoing everything. The original Cashmere colored carpet was just too blotchy to save. It went in the trash. Note where the rear piece of carpet meets the front and there's an overlap that runs right under the middle of the seat. The black spot in the corner of the picture is part of the reason the truck was sold for $14k.

Image

Once the old carpet was out I discovered that GM, at least in 2009 decided not to place ANY sound absorbing material under the 2nd row seats. No foam and no stick on, permanent, spray on media. They did however use both types where you put your feet in the 2nd row. I had some left over HushMat from the VW and laid out a grid. I slapped it on where it sounded the most like a tin can when knocking on it.

Image

Wax on, wax off. The manufactures of this stuff used to let people know you don't have to cover 100% of the surface to knock down the majority of the noise. When they saw they could sell 10x and much when owners covered every square inch of the interior, they stopped saying anything.

Image

Just this little bit of HushMat cut out enough noise so I could hear my daughter from the back seat at 70= MPH without raising her voice. You'll also notice that the 2011 Escalade carpet is now three pieces vs two. The new 2011 carpet for the back is quite a bit shorter than in the 1st pic.

Image

Here it is, new, perfect fit, perfectly molded to contour the floor and all the holes cut exactly where they should be. I left the factory sticker on so I can enjoy it more.

A perfect match for the carpet on the back of the seats.

Trouble in paradise! The middle piece I bought off eBay is not for an ESV. It's for a standard length truck. Yancy auto parts (eBay) sold it to me. They have 100% positive feedback on 161K items sold. I'll give them a shout and see what they can do. I pushed and pulled the carpet that was absolutely not molded to the truck to cover as much as possible until I get a center piece.

I guess if I had passengers in the 2nd row stow their trays under the seats before take offs and landings it wouldn't be as big of a deal. That's what I get for waiting a year to install the carpet.

I thought it would be difficult until Chief pulled all his carpet, washed, dried & reinstalled it in one day.

I was perfectly satisfied removing & reinstalling just the cargo carpet in one afternoon.

I gave the internet a quick look for a new or preloved center brown carpet. Nothing. I got a sample from a vendor. Close, but no cigar. I’ll keep looking for an OEM Cocoa piece from an 11-14 Plat or Prem.

Here's a link to 2022 when I started on the Cocoa Carpet Conversion ... New to me this leap year - '09 Escalade Platinum

If any of you have wondered what the difference was between the 07-10 and 11-14 interior carpet is, here's a sample. This is all the carpet pulled from a Gen 5, 2015 Burb. Note that only the center carpet sections is the same in the 11-14 ESV / LWB / Burb 2015-2020.

The rear sections have cut outs in different places than the 07-14. The front section may fit 07-14, but I haven't verified yet.

Image

This is the shape of the center carpet that goes in the 11-14 & 15-20 Escalade ESV & Burb. The standard wheel base doesn't have the protrusion in front.
