Just curious. You seem to know a lot about the process. Are you affiliated with GM or Cadillac somehow
I'm not affiliated with GM or Cadillac, but I have been ordering GM vehicles for my entire life. I have never bought a vehicle off a dealer's lot. They have all been ordered with the exact specifications I wanted. I've been through this process many, many times. Most recently was my 2020 C8 Corvette - definitely another vehicle where the demand vastly exceeded the supply. My dad was the Chevrolet Production Engineering Manager. I'm also very active (I'm a moderator) on a very large forum centered on the Corvette and deal with orders/allocations all the time.

My AWD was last estimated by the Concierge for early 2023 with months mentioned as January, February or March. It's dubious about what early 2023 means. Final acceptance dates? Targeted production months? Delivery dates? Everyone knows that Cadillac is way behind in deliveries.

Like you, I have always ordered my cars from the dealer. This includes many caddies and two Corvettes.

and if you were to believe the constant advertising blitz that Cadillac is doing with TV commercials and web ads, you would think that the Lyriq is in mass production and you could run down to your local Cadillac dealer and pick one up today! I really think that Cadillac is putting the cart before the horse by heavily advertising the vehicle when it is well known that it will take years for someone brand new to get one.

Preodered my Mach E when it was first announced and got it around the 455 day mark. The Mach E forum was just like this concerning frustration over lack of communication, so I guess been there done that?

Same over on the VW ID4 forum. Long waits for the ID4, glad I got lucky and snagged one from a dealer in November 2021 before pit got really hard to get your hands on one. That was until the tax credit changed. Now I’m seeing more at dealers.

Don’t write off the ID4 if you’re looking for alternative EVs. It’s a great car. Not as fast as the Lyriq, but it’s a solid vehicle.

I'll post my info here since many may be concerned - and they may well be justificed.

I was and still am concerned after reading the "contract" that I read after my $100 on May 18. But I've been assured that I am indeed in the system. My dealer wrote to me: "As of right now, we have about 150 orders for the Lyriq. Only 30 or so clients are in “system que (sic)” for production. You happen to be one of them. The rest of our clients are pending status."

So I responded that I'll just wait.

But if any of you have clarificating information, Im happy to hear it.

The only way to know with some additional certainity is to go to the cadillac website, and use the automated chat feature. Say 'hi', then 'order status', and type in your alphanumeric order number. See what comes back.

@lbeck02 Has your dealer given you your "Order Number" (it's alphanumeric, not actually a number)? If not, get it from them.

I emailed my reservation number and some purchase price questions to the dealership that I've been dealing with. Along with a comment that I would be asking the Cadillac concierge if needed. The response from the dealership is cut and pasted as follows:
"We can discuss trade values within 30 days of the delivery date. Certainly starting 2023, any initiatives in place by Congress and in effect can be discussed.

As of right now, we have about 150 orders for the Lyriq. Only 30 or so clients are in “system que” for production. You happen to be one of them. The rest of our clients are pending status.
"

Thanks for the replies. I'm satisfied with the dealership response.

Glad you're satisfied, I certainly would not be without the order number in hand. Even if this dealer is a close personal friend, my advice would be "trust but verify". With the order number, you can track your order progress using Cadillac chat.
