Sorry for the long post, but this is beyond frustrating. Has anyone else had these sort of issues? What did Cadillac do to make it right?
On January 29th 2023 at 11:30 am my family of 5 was driving on the highway doing roughly 65mph when all of a sudden without warning our 2022 Escalade completely lost all mechanical power and shifted itself into neutral. A message in the driver cluster appeared, stating that we needed to press the start button, which we did. However, the only thing that happened was the electronics in the vehicle cycled through. At this time, as soon as it was safe to do so, we pulled onto the shoulder of the busy highway, put the Escalade in park, and restarted. At this point, the vehicle was able to be driven. The next day, we contacted our service department and brought the vehicle in for service. We were told that there were no diagnostic codes to investigate, but there was a service bulletin for a wiring harness located behind the air intake. They stated that they completed the service bulletin and also did a firmware and software update. However, exactly one week later, on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, we were driving at approximately 45mph, and again, without warning, we lost all mechanical power, and the Escalade shifted into neutral At this point, when safe to do so, we pulled onto a side street and put the Escalade in park. We then attempted to restart the Escalade, but it would only cycle through the acc/start sequence. At this time, we contacted a tow company to pick up the Escalade and take it to the dealership. I was contacted by the tow truck company that the truck was unable to be shifted into neutral while they attempted to tow it. We were contacted by the service department on Tuesday, February 7th, that they were unable to start the Escalade and would need to order a starter. After several days, they received the starter and installed it. We were informed that there were still no diagnostic codes, but they would be looking into the issue. After several more days, we were informed that they found metal shavings in the engine, and there were bent rods and broken lifters. Upon receiving this information, we asked what could have caused this sort of issue, which we were not given an answer. We were then told that the next course of action would be to replace the entire engine. We asked if they were completely certain this would solve the issue, to which they replied that they didn't know. This took place on Thursday, February 9th. Since then, we have reached out to Cadillac to open a case, we have called our servicer and sales manager daily for updates. So far, we have been told that there are no engines for the replacement needed, and they don't know when they will become available. The GM rep for our dealership has refused to speak to us regarding this issue, Cadillac care reps offer no answers or steps to resolve the issue. We have zero faith in this vehicle, and my family does not feel safe due to these traumatic experiences.
