How reliable are Cadillacs?

Hey! I'm living in the UK and wanting a Cadillac for my first car (don't say that they're expensive, we don't have an import tax unlike the US, the cost about the same as any executive European cars, new and used.) I'm thinking of a Seville, and was wondering if they are reliable and if the parts are expensive? I live in Edinburgh, so please give me any classifieds if you can!

I was in Edinburgh a few years back, my son was going to the university there. I really enjoyed the city. We have had a few members from Scotland that have had Sevilles, unfortunately I have to say they didn't have very good luck finding parts and competent repair and service for their cars. We haven't hear from any o them in a long time so I presume they tired of the problems they had in keeping their cars in good running condition. As you may know there are only a couple of dealership and service organizations in England, I am not aware of any in Scotland.

Sevilles are great cars, but they are aging now and will require conscientious maintenance to keep them n serviceable condition. When it comes to the UK both parts and knowledgeable technicians are very hard to near impossible to come by. Therefore I don't recommend a Seville or any Cadillac for a young (or old) UK resident.

HEY - a Cadillac is NOT a good first car -
I won't tell you they are expensive to purchase -

I WILL tell you they are VERY EXPENSIVE to drive and maintain -
and that is based on parts prices right here in the good old US-of-A -
and that's assuming you can turn your own wrenches -

I live in Edinburgh,
so please give me any classifieds if you can!

I can supply you with ads for a couple currently for sale
around Minneapolis -

how far are you willing to travel? -
and how much do you have to spend? -

I smelled a rat, so went online and did some snooping - It's curious to note that the OP is using an internet service provider near Columbus, Ohio - and he's 15 years old, according to his profile.

BritishCadillacOwner, can you shed any light on this apparent problem ? ........... because your replies from members are correct: A Seville - any Seville - will be scary expensive to maintain in GB. You'll need a GOOD paper route.

Would you have to convert the lighting to Euro standards ???

----------

What year are you considering?
He said 2002 in the OP ..........

Cadillacs are for the rich and famous. Are you rich and famous like the rest of us on here? If so, money is no object, and prestige is everything. If you want to be the classiest person in all of Great Britain and can afford it, then buy a Cadillac. Might I suggest a black or red colored one to stand out even more. Now, go knock 'em dead!
