This past September my wife and I bought a 2021 Certified Preowned Cadillac XT4 Premium Luxury vehicle from Star Cadillac in Quakertown PA. The vehicle had 11,900 miles on it when we purchased it. It took a lot of convincing on my part to get my wife to buy an American made car (she wanted an Acura MDX) but I told her a certified preowned Cadillac comes with a lot of assurances and conveniences and she loved the XT4 once we found the right one. A few weeks ago the engine developed an oil leak obvious from the oil stains on our garage floor. The car is scheduled to go in for service on Monday, January 8th, at Star Cadillac.
Today I called the dealership to let them know I would need a courtesy car when I dropped off the Cadillac and was told by the dealership they haven't had loaner cars for months. When I told them this would create a hardship for us they simply said they don't have a loaner car. They neglected to mention to us, when we bought the car, that the Courtesy car offering would not be honored by the dealership at this time.
I'm pretty sure the oil leak is related to the cam seal issue known for this engine since the oil leak appears to be coming from the timing chain/belt cover.
This is our first service experience with this dealership and this car and it's very disappointing to 1, have to address an oil leak on a car with such low mileage and 2, find out that one of the incentives for buying a certified preowned Cadillac is not being honored.
I would really like to get some feedback on this matter from someone at GM. I already sent an email to SocialMedia@gm.com with the same information.
Do other members of this forum find the same issue where loaner cars are not available for warranty service?
