First service experience on my Certified Pre-Owned 2021 XT4 - Disappointing

This past September my wife and I bought a 2021 Certified Preowned Cadillac XT4 Premium Luxury vehicle from Star Cadillac in Quakertown PA. The vehicle had 11,900 miles on it when we purchased it. It took a lot of convincing on my part to get my wife to buy an American made car (she wanted an Acura MDX) but I told her a certified preowned Cadillac comes with a lot of assurances and conveniences and she loved the XT4 once we found the right one. A few weeks ago the engine developed an oil leak obvious from the oil stains on our garage floor. The car is scheduled to go in for service on Monday, January 8th, at Star Cadillac.

Today I called the dealership to let them know I would need a courtesy car when I dropped off the Cadillac and was told by the dealership they haven't had loaner cars for months. When I told them this would create a hardship for us they simply said they don't have a loaner car. They neglected to mention to us, when we bought the car, that the Courtesy car offering would not be honored by the dealership at this time.

I'm pretty sure the oil leak is related to the cam seal issue known for this engine since the oil leak appears to be coming from the timing chain/belt cover.

This is our first service experience with this dealership and this car and it's very disappointing to 1, have to address an oil leak on a car with such low mileage and 2, find out that one of the incentives for buying a certified preowned Cadillac is not being honored.

I would really like to get some feedback on this matter from someone at GM. I already sent an email to SocialMedia@gm.com with the same information.

Do other members of this forum find the same issue where loaner cars are not available for warranty service?

Welcome to CF! Sorry to hear about the problem(s). Dealerships can be all over the place when it comes to service and customer satisfaction. At mine, when they were out of loaners, the service mgr offered to let me have his. If you can, try a different Dealership and/or call up Gm/Cadillac - more personal than an email. Best of Luck!

In 2022 My ‘21 XT4 was at the dealership for an aggregate of 3 weeks without a loaner. A friend in a similar situation with Cadillac made a bit of a scene and got a loaner. Me, being retired would rather a scarce loaner go to someone who had to get to work. I was a bit annoyed at having to make a $593 lease payment but only having a car for a week of that month. I believe Cadillac will give you a few bucks towards a rental under these circumstances. I’m surprised the loaner situation is still that bad. I had assumed inventory was back up by now.

I just picked up my 2-1/2 year old 21’ Sport from my dealer yesterday after having the same repair done under warranty.
They had it for 2 days and had no loaners available so they arranged a rental from Enterprise and picked up the tab 100%.

I have just over 50k km (30k miles) on it and the cam carrier seal leak was discovered just before Christmas when I was in for a routine oil change. It was still drivable and I just had to wait for parts to come in.

Love my Dealership, they even sent me a video of the underside of my car while it was on the lift when the leak was first discovered.

Update: Dropped the XT4 off at the Cadillac dealership on Sunday evening. We got a call late Monday afternoon they were just starting to look at it. There was also issues with the key fabs not working properly and they fixed them. On Tuesday they called me and confirmed we have the cam seal leak issue and would need the car for another 6-7 days. I asked about a loaner car again and was told they still had nothing but may be getting them next week. In the meanwhile I had to cancel a PT appointment for a pinched nerve because my wife has an appointment on the other side of town and is taking my car.

After sending an email to GM last week I have heard nothing from them at all. Not even an "email received" acknowledgement. The buyers remorse is starting to set in!

I took my 21 XT4 in for the Evap Pump Replacement last week. I was also having problems with my spare key fob not working properly. It might have been the check engine light related.
Went to pick it up, and they wanted to charge me 49$. They said the key fob was not covered under warranty. I blew a gasket. They relented and took off the labor but still charged me 14$ for 2 batteries they changed in both fobs
