Have any of you tried to restore the chrome trim on the dash you know that plastic trim around the guage cluster with chrome outline? If so what did you use?

What do you mean by "restore"? Is it dull and dirty, or scratched, pitted and peeling??if the latter, fixing it means replaying. Very few places rechrome plastic, and just like chroming metal, it's not cheap. You're better off buying nice used trim.
It's the chrome outline around the speedo and controls. Mine is in excellent shape overall the chrome is worn off in spots, didn't know if anyone had found any kind of paint that was close to matching the chrome. I used some model paint and it doesn't look too bad just wish it was a bit more shiney.
In my case, burned chrome line around dash was renewed with flexible auto-adhesive chrome line sold by the meter. Of course, previously I cleaned the base as much as I could before I stick it the new adhesive material on it.
Here is the pic of the flexible chromed molding roll I bought and a detail of the molding:
I bought it here, in Spain but I´m sure you can find something similar or even better in a large supermarket or a car accessory shop.
I´m happy with the result, as it´s very shiny and if carefully cut looks like factory, although original lining is thinner.
I stole cadforce idea of the moldable chrome strip. I also stole my wife's silver paint pen and went over all the outlines around the gagues. I'm in extreme heat and both have held up well.
It was a oil based silver sharpee pen. I'll snap some pics tomorrow
The chrome tape looks good but my hands aren't nimble enough to to do a good job at it, yours looks real good. I had thought about how they put that gold leaf on things and if they had something like a thin chrome sheet that you could do the same then trim the excess.
I re-did the whole wheel. Filled the cracks....over 20....and painted it. Then I cut wood veneer and glued it in. Applied the pin stripe tape and clear coated.
It's meant primarily for bigger jobs like mirrors and bumpers. There is new stuff called spray on chrome. It's applied spraying it on then rinsed with water and blown dry with compressed air. The final coat is like a clear coat process. The part I like about it is say if you have mirrors that have pot metal that are pitted, you can repair them first with body fill and afterwards spray this stuff on and it will adhere to the body fill. Look for Chrome Solutions, Spectrachrome or Hydrochrome.
