Back on Thursday (7 Dec), GM released an information bulletin about CUE v2.5 and enhanced Apple Car Play.

Owners of car prior to VIN G0108844 can get this upgrade by going to a Cadillac dealer and asking about bulletin 16-NA-002.

It requires replacement of some of the car's infotainment hardware and should be covered under warranty.

I have a G0129, so I assume I've already got this?
If you have G0129xxx and the break point is 108844, figure you already have the upgrade, but check your CUE version to know for sure.
I'm curious about this as well. CarPlay works for me, but "enhanced" intrigues me. Is there something more?
If you have CarPlay functionality, then it's likely you already have v2.5 as the bulletin I have states CUE 2.0 did not have CarPlay, but check your CUE version to know for sure. Finally, an easy way to check for CUE 2.5 is look for the "Projection" icon on the CUE Home Screen. If that is displayed, then you have 2.5. If it's not, you don't.

----------

Did a little more research. Here are the new features of CUE 2.5
  • Faster performance and response.
  • Phone projection capability for Apple CarPlay.
  • Improved navigation interface enabling faster address searches and access to over 1.5 million points of interest.
  • Improved vehicle voice recognition and additional access to smart phone voice recognition.
  • Improved and additional radio tuning options for FM, AM, and Sirius XM satellite radio.
  • Ability to browse personal devise audio files via Bluetooth.
Seems this is a pretty comprehensive upgrade, but "timeshift" is no longer available after the upgrade. Also, there will be no SD Card slot in the USB receptacle.

I have the Phone Projection button, and the super tech guy at my dealer said that's how he knew this car would support CarPlay.

That said, I find the system boots up fast. My Audi, it would take over 1 minute to get BT streaming or even my phone fully connected after a cold start. On the ATS-V, my music basically starts playing immediately. I have a few humps to get over with CUE, but ultimately it seems to work.

Mine must have the 2.5 version all the above is the case for me. It is pretty solid, I'm not having the disappointing experience with CUE others talk about honestly. I like it, it's simple. My only issue is with bluetooth audio taking over after any type of bluetooth interaction. I get a phone call, when that's over bluetooth audio takes over no matter what I was listening to. Cadillac says that is an Apple problem and they're working on it. While that may be the case, I had the same phone and iOS version running when I was in my 2010 MB, and did not have the same results/issue.

Otherwise, I like it. I would've liked the timeshift function I read about in the manual, but sure enough it's a thing of the past.

Had a frustrating experience at the dealer today. Asked about the update and they say "oh yes, definitely". I picked the car up this evening and CUE looks the same. Asked about the update, they said "oh yes, we did that! The recall, for the white smoke!" Explained to them that I was there for the CUE update, but I was happy that they addressed the white smoke recall anyway.

Lesson: if you don't give them the bulletin (16-NA-002) info, you're making two trips to the service bay. :bigroll:
