That just shows you the stock pads are too soft for normal driving. On the track they would probably haul the relatively heavy (for track life) down from speed effectively and you wouldn't mind the dust in that scenario.

Welp, went ahead and grabbed some for the front. Have the car in for service to see if its time to replace the brakes. If it is, I have given them to my dad to hand to the dealer to install. We will see if they notice lol.

Update, breaks still have 5-4mm still left on my brakes at 18,000. So going to wait a little before upgrading to the porters.

Replace with Porterfield Pads update:

Slight cut on the rotors to clean up.
Ordered Porterfield pads front & rear.
Ordered Sensors for front and rear.

Pads stop well...Not as soft/touchy as a pedal as original. Needs a little more pressure from the pedal.

Way less dust as I can see thus far.

Less money and performance.

GM replaced my rims under warranty, so while the car was at the dealer I had them install my Porterfield rear pads.

Updating this thread with part numbers from my dealer invoice:
Front brake pad life sensor: GM p/n 84687075
Rear brake pad life sensor: GM p/n 84460921
Rear brake rotors: GM p/n 13514480

Dealer also listed "Adhesive 19369733" on the work ticket, but that looks like just red loctite.

Just for fun, the CT6-V standard wheels are 84632425.

I've got 8K miles on my Porterfield Pads and they are wearing very well. Even though dust was very minimal at the start it seems less as they age which I'm really pleased with. I just installed Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on the car and major handling, braking performance increases.

I called my Cadillac dealer before buying the Porterfield pads, just to make sure they would install them. They told me they would do it with no problem. I also asked them to check if they had the brake pad sensors before scheduling an appointment. I was told that my vehicle only has the sensors in the front and not in the rear. The p/n for the front matches the number you guys posted in this forum (84687075). They are saying their system shows my vehicle having a j6h brake code that includes sensors or just one sensor in the front. If this is true, how is the dashboard able to measure the pad life for each wheel, front and rear?
Any ideas?

I think the dealer might be wrong. When I replaced my front brakes (Porterfield) I replaced also my front sensor (84687075) and when I checked the rears yes there is a sensor 84460921 When I checked GM Parts Direct they also
list that part number for the rears.
My 19 CT6-V option codes listed;
JBP-BREAK LINNING WEAR INDICATOR
J6H- BREAK SYSTEM POWER FRONT & REAR RR DISC ABS 19 HEAVY DUTY
JE2- BRAKE LINGINGS
Hope this helps..

Thank you Oskee, I guess I am going to buy both just in case, but its weird because if I search for parts in my Cadillac app, it only shows front sensors like the dealer was saying.
There should be one sensor per wheel, right? I

My dealership replaced the original brake pads today. They used the Porterfield pads that I provided and replaced just the front sensor (84687075) since the rear one is impossible to find right now. I was told that the rear sensor has to be replaced but they re-used the one I had for now.
After getting in the car, I checked the dashboard to see what % the brake pad life indicator was showing and I see 90% for the front and 91% for the rear. The dealership told me that the Porterfield pads are thinner and that's the reason why I see 90/91 %.
Did you guys notice the same thing with the Porterfield pads?
I also tried to reset manually the indicator but both front and rear pads are grayed out and holding the SEL button does not do anything.
Any ideas?

When I installed my Porterfield front pads I installed a new front sensor (84687075) and after reconnecting the battery clearing the trouble codes and relearning my brake pad sensors the front pad went to 100% and rears stayed at 96% because I did not replace the rear pads at the time. Rear pad sensor is GM Part # 84460921 which I got from GM Parts Direct. ( for when I do the rears ) Now after 7K miles since the Front Brake Job my front pad life sensor is at 97% and rears are at 95% .

Thank you Oskee, I am assuming the dealership cleared the codes and relearned the front sensor. How did you do yours? With a scan tool?
I still do not fully understand how the system is detecting the brake pad life. I thought the sensors could be reused as long as they are still intact and the sensors do not send the life %.
I tried to order the rear sensor # 84460921 but it is not available anywhere and GM does not have an ETA on future availability.

The sensors cannot be relearned because they physically wear as the pads wear; this is why they have to be replaced with the pad replacement. The good news is that since your sensors had relatively high life left in them, you simply won't know your brakes are wearing until they get below the 90% / 91% they're currently worn down to. As soon as your pads pass that wear point, the sensors will pick up and continue counting down.

As mzbk21 explained the sensor wears down along with the brake pad. I used my scanner to clear any trouble codes that may have been set when I disconnected the battery reset my TPMS (tire air press) and operated all the windows.
How I did my brake life I turned on the ignition system without running the engine used the steering wheel controls to scroll down to brake life monitor system which shows percent of pad life and as soon as the menu light goes off I hit the select button that is in between the arrows and the screen changed to Front Pads Installed, Rear Pads Installed,
then under that says Disable or you can change it Enable . Just remember if you change it to Disable when you bring up pad life percentage amount it will say Disabled instead of the pad life percent.
Hope this helps !

Thank you mzbk2l, I'll keep an eye on the wear but so far I like the new pads.

Thanks Oskee, I'll try the procedure again, this time with just the ignition system turned on without the engine running.

I'm going to get my front brakes done. I have purchased the Porterfield pads for the job, but need to get the brake sensors ordered. Does anyone have a part number and a good source for getting these? Also are the sensors the same for the rear brakes as the fronts?
Thanks for help!

Check post #74 in this thread - Oskee lists both sensor part numbers. They are not the same front and rear, but only one of each is required.
