CT5V governor delete?

Does anyone know how to remove the governor on a 2023 CT5V? I plan on installing a JB4 tuner but from what I’ve read, that won’t help the top speed problem. What can I do that will not interfere with the JB4?

The top speed is "governed" through programming in the ECU. AFAIK, you can't order the car with the programming altered. This is something that would require the tools and expertise to re-program after delivery. Undoubtedly, it would also run the risk of voiding the warranty.

No 'run the risk'...altering the factory tune will 100%, no doubt void the warranty. It's arguable, on the majority of the car, since the ECU is the primary 'brain' and the motor is the 'heart' (maintaining the analogy) that effects every component on the car. (The electronics integrated on these cars is insane. Conversely, if you replace/upgrade the sideview mirror on and the motor blows a turbo...the turbo is still covered.

My tac is, if i replace/upgrade a part (mod), I'm on the hook for anything that part effects.
Having/building a good relationship with the service manager is always beneficial. They get paid for warranty repairs and those guys are snakey and can find a way, if they want to. Using turbo as an example, as it could apply to you, if the warranty is denied you can purchase and replace it for WAY less anywhere else other than the dealer. So the dealership service department actually loses money in that case. It would benefit them to find a way to make it a warranty repair. $0 or another sale for $7-10k on the balance sheet. Which would you pick? 😉

I saw something online that said if it has all season tires, there will be a governor set to 130. I’ve spent the last week looking at every piece of info I can find on the CT5V online, so of course now I can’t find what I was reading.. but I’d be pretty disappointed if I get the car and it won’t do more than 130, especially when Cadillac does say 156 top speed.

Interesting. The Cadillac Canada site still lists the 0-60 as 4.9 seconds for 2023.

I thought the V was only shipped with summer-only performance tires. I could be wrong.

As of yesterday, the ECU and TCU encryption has not been broken by tuners yet. The opinion of my tuner (nationally well known, well respected and highly sought after), was "it's so complex, it might never be."

Somebody, at some point, somewhere will do it, but not yet. JB4 is only/best option right now. You lose some power and 'finesse'(tuning tactics) with a JB4, but they produce really well, across most platforms, on a healthy forced induction motor...especially if you already drive a monster. (BW.)

Looks like this CT5 hit 140 MPH while trying to outrun the police. Not sure what motor it had but it is NOT a V or BW as it doesn't has the quad exhaust on it.

Definitely not a Blackwing.

I had my 22 BW5 auto going 174mph on my secret test road & it was still pulling like a freight train my 23 BW5 manual hit 165mph in 5th & redlined at 7000rpm need more Road with the 6 speed

they do dance around a little at high speeds at least my 23 does make need 4 wheel alignment? Thoughts?
