I own a 2005 cadillac SRX v6 2WD, but catalytic converters of this car were broken several weeks ago. I am going to buy 2 catalytic converters for this car, does anybody have any suggestions about where I can buy cheaper catalytic converters which can be fitted into this car since dealer asked for 1300 dollars for replacement.. a lot to me.

Thanks

Hi,
The warranty is 100000 miles for catalytic converter? I came to the shope and they said the warranty is 8 years/80000 miles..
I am not sure so that could you give me some advice. Also, do you know where I can buy catalytic converter for this car with cheaper price, thank you.

If you buy "cheap" non-OE converters, get ready to replace them on a regular basis.
Often the catalyst bed is not up to the challenge of meeting the OE diagnostic tests for catalyst efficiency.
The V6 has cats that unbolt from the manifold and they aren't too bad to service, "welding them in" in position is almost impossible due to the way they are installed.
You can shop around but by federal law they have to be designed for that vehicle and they have to work for a period of 5 years or 50,000 miles after the installation.

For the record, the factory warranty on catalytic converters is 8 years or 80,000 miles from the day the vehicle was delivered as new.

Just the bolts on the heat shield and it should come off. Have you removed the engine cover for better access?

Cadalytic converter help, we have a 2005 srx and the cadalytic converters went bad the dealer replaced them because of a recall that was in 2012. Now they are bad again and they said it was over a year and or 12,000 miles and they will not take care of it again. Does anyone know when a recall is invoved what is the dealerships responsibility?

I believe Fed law says a converter must last 80,000 mi. Check into that.

If its a v8 they are covered for 12 years 250k under extended coverage policy. Only for 04-05 LH2 N* powered cars.

This is so frustrating. I realize this is an old post and quit possibly won't be read. I've never owned a cadilac but have always had a GM or chevy truck. I bought my fiancé a 2005 Cadillac srx. Within a week the check engine light comes on with a code showing cadilitic converter issue. One of them was changed in 2009. It's disappointing with all the issues they've had with the v8 that it wouldn't carry over to the v6.

I own an 05 AWD SRX V6. Catalytic Converter needs to replaced for sure. At first I was told I was covered since my VIN was on their list of approve vehicles. Now I'm told that an inspector needs to see the car and approve/disapprove the repairs. So I'm getting mixed messages from my dealership on this. I will post as soon as I get an answer. Meanwhile I would love to hear from anyone who has a V6 AWD and was approved or denied.

So here is the latest on my SRX. The dealer has agreed to replaced the CC and cover the cost. Yeah!!!. I took me convincing them that GM agreed
to do this by showing the Service Letter from GM. If needed, I can post a link. They had to verify that my vehicle qualified by checking the VIN and
having an inspector look at the car and the paper work. For me, persistence paid off. My advise, go back to the dealer with the facts printed and
don't give in. Talk to the Service Manager or Dealership Manager is necessary.

I bought a 2005 Cadillac SRX V6 for my Mom in 2011 with only 54,000 miles. It currently only has 70,000 miles on it and I have replaced the catalytic converter, and both
the number 1 & 3 ignition coils. I've spent about $2,000 since 2012, $1,400 of which has been spent since Sept. 2014. Guess what?? Now, I have yet another check engine light on...the 3rd time since Sept. 2014. Dossett Cadillac in Hattiesburg, MS is where I'm having my repairs done for my Mom, but something just doesn't seem right and they are totally unwilling to work with me. Just last month, I spent another $400 on the #1 ignition coil and I already have another engine light.

Can someone please HELP?? Does the recall for catalytic converters on 2005 SRXs include the V6 models? Also, I spoke with the service manager at Dossett today and got more information, but they don't think they are misdiagnosing my Mom's car. Has anyone else has these issues? Is there anything GM may do or advise me do?

Thanks so much!
