Can you automatically close windows & sunroof?

I've checked the manual, and perhaps I'm missing it, but is there a way to automatically have the sunroof and/or windows close when you shut off car and exit? During nice days, it's easy to forget you have the sunroof open and it would be nice to have it close for you if one happens to forget when one exits the car in a hurry....:)

Hello rustybear3 and hood101010,

I apologize but I have checked through the owner’s manual as well and do not see anything regarding the sunroof automatically closing or being able to close them from the key fobs either. I will pass this along as something that people are looking for in their vehicles. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to private message us and we will look into them. Thank you very much for your time.

The reason I asked this, is once I just plain forgot to close the sunroof; it was clouding up in the company parking lot and someone mentioned I'd forgotten about my sunroof.....rushed out and closed it just in time before the rains....what a disaster that would have been! :err: would be a nice option for dolts like me...

I think the lawyers might have something to do with it. Can you see some parent leaving their child in the car. The child has his head or arm dangling outside of the window and sunroof and the parent happens to accidentally hit the fob to close the windows and somehow even if the anti-pinch feature worked, the kid has gotten a bruise or broken a finger. The lawsuits would come flying in.

Well, for that matter they could so called accidentally hit the back buttons on the console panel ( which is more likely scenario) and zip the rear windows on a kids fingers as well....but they have those capabilities of a driver remotely controlling all windows; could outlaw all automatic windows and go to manual hand cranks but they don't....they idea of a kid standing and hanging out a sunroof is the parent's irresponsibility and not the cars....I can't imagine a family exiting a car, leaving their kid in the car with his head and hands hanging out a sunroof or open window...I understand your point, but it's pretty extreme and you could easily disable such an option if it would be made available....really, you can sue over anything in today's modern automobile...even the CUE drawer automatically opening and closing could pinch a kids finger if he played with it...
I'm not defending it, just saying that you can't underestimate how much influence the lawyers have over some of the decisions made.

the auto close feature already built into our cars (when operated on the drivers door) already has the auto reverse anti crush built in (havent tested the sunroof but it has it too) so tieing it into the fob should be a matter of programming. the only thing i can think of that might get in the way is the rear windows auto down but not auto up, so the anti crush might not be in the back window to satisfy the lawyers
I think the anti pinch is on all windows.

I agree 100% with the ATS needing a key FOB sunroof/window vent option. I'm that guy that cruises around with the windows cracked, sunroof tilted and A/C on full blast just because I like the air movement. I also live in Florida, so it rains without notice for an hour and then it's bright and sunny. It would be really nice to be able to keep my interior temps down by cracking the windows and the rain out by shutting them, all through the key FOB...

I had the sunroof closing feature in my 1999 STS. The sunroof control module was wired up somehow via a relay so that when I turned the key off, the sunroof automatically closed. So I suppose another relay sensed an absence of ignition power and closed the roof. Great feature, I loved it. Of course it's not available on my my new CTS which is 16 years newer. Called Cadillac or checked with dealer, came up with nada.

You can just imagine some knucklehead had his head sticking out of the roof, accidentally kicked the ignition key off and took his head clean off. Since it's 2015, this would have likely resulted in a lawsuit blaming GM (because nobody takes responsibility anymore for their own actions) and GM pulled that feature out of their vehicles. Sorry, I've become such a cynic in my old age. :D

You can submit suggestions to Cad Cust Service.
It should be easy to have a program option to close
windows when car turned off, just like the options to
unlock doors or not when car turned off.

New Designers either drop some features or they fall through the
cracks. One cool first gen CTS feature was programable
buttons on the steering wheel to do what you wanted them to
do. They went away in CTS Gen 2.

On my coupe, just like my last CTS coupe, the windows lower slightly when you open the door and raise again once the door is closed. I know this is done to ensure a good seal on a pillarless coupe
But it shows;at least that the technology is there and operates, so there is no reason why it couldn't be adapted to provide further travel.

There's no reason from a technical standpoint that any of the functions mentioned couldn't be implemented. Her's what I can do from the key fob on my Mercedes - besides locking and unlocking the doors and arming and disarming the alarm:
* Lower all the windows without affecting the convertible top
* Open the convertible top and lower all of the windows
* Open the top and leave all of the windows up
* Raise all of the windows - top unaffected
* Raise the top and raise all of the windows
* Raise the top up and leave the windows down.

All from two buttons on the key fob. Windows and sun roof on our ATS's would be a piece of cake to do - if they wanted to.
