the shutters default and failsafe position is open....unplugging the system will cause the BCM (Body Control Module) the throw a CEL
I understand how they are supposed to operate but I recall at least one thread on the forum where an owner had them stuck in the closed position which led to an engine overheat. I have no desire to unplug them for normal operation but next oil change I will take a closer look to see how difficult they would be to open if they fail and stick closed. If it happens on a trip I wouldn't care about a CEL but an overheating ATS would not be a fun way to spend part of a vacation.

My first Oldsmobile (1989 Toronado with the Trofeo package) had the pop open headlights which looked cool until they didn't pop open one night when I was getting ready to drive back over the mountain roads from Cherokee NC to Townsend TN. I figured out how to do a quick repair in the parking lot but it is MUCH more fun to figure out these systems when time isn't an issue :)

Has anyone logged coolant and oil temps with the shutters open/closed? Has anyone put a thermocouple underhood, and in several locations, to know what happens to temps when the shutters are closed. I get the point about what if they fail shut, but the rest seems to be speculation without data.

I just took my '15 performance with the driver awareness package in for an oil change. Because I was a bit confused as to who had and who didn't have the active grill I asked if the would check and let me know. The shop manager came out and looked at the grill and said I do not have it. When parked hot or cold my grill is open and the louvers are fixed. Someone said that if you have the active grill then the slats would be closed when the ignition is off which seemed odd since closing them on a hot day would trap all of that hot air in the engine compartment.
So now I'm really confused; but I guess it doesn't matter much, I don't have drivers assist and I don't have an active grill. Why do they have to makes things so hard?

That dealer was wrong The 2.5 L does not have them but all the 2.0 and 3.6 have it except with driver awareness package. BTW the louvers are not closed on my car when shut off.
The louvers are not even put on the cars that have the driver awareness package.

I inquired about this feature at the dealer today when I picked up my car and was told that my car did not have this feature. Any truth to this?

The debate goes on. I cannot see or feel any shutters behind the grille. I have looked with a flashlight and probed around with a nylon pry tool but nothing.Anyone see a code on their build sheet.

All ATSs that I know of have the active grille shutters. It should be pretty easy to tell. You either have black shutters behind the grille or you don't

C "T" ess: The 2015 ATS Coupe appears to not have the Active Aero Grille - half way down page 40 of brochure.
The 2015 Sedan has it on 2.0 and 3.6 engines as optional for Base and Luxury, and standard for Performance and Premium - half way down page 42 of brochure (BUT it is deleted when the Sedan has the Driver Assist package due to the radar being mounted where the grilles would be located).

Dear friends, where can I buy the CTS 2015 grille shutter at a low price, or if I don't install the grille shutter, what can happen?

Is there a program with which I could uninstall the Grille Shutter program, because there is nowhere to buy it in Armenia.

Welcome to the forums!

You can try gmpartsgiant.com or some of the other GM parts websites here in the States and see if they will ship to you. I don't know if you can just buy a single shutter, if that is what you are asking about. Here is the whole assembly at gmpartsgiant.com: 23145527 - Genuine GM Deflector Assembly, Front Bumper Fascia Air (gmpartsgiant.com)

Since it's a whole assembly, this is mainly an OEM part so not much aftermarket options (yet). Here's one from NAPA Auto Parts that's a little cheaper: Radiator Active Grille Shutter Assembly NOE 73199371 | Buy Online - NAPA Auto Parts (napaonline.com)
