My ATS is in the shop for warranty work... transmission shudder. I was amazed and impressed when the dealer gave me a 2020 Cadillac CT5 as a loaner.

After 8 days of driving, this is my review.

Hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Another great video, sir. I appreciate your candid review.

Agree wholeheartedly that the ugly c-pillar thingy is less noticeable with the entire car in black.
When you stepped on the gas, it sounded like a Vitamix running in the background!

Appreciate it my friend :) It is the same sound you'll find in any fine food processing appliance.

The new slower 2.0T must be cheaper to build. With the 10 speed, it initially feels quick, to
those who either don't have quicker cars or don't care about faster cars. GM might think that those
who want faster cars, will opt for the faster engine or the JR V.

This slower 2.0T might cost Cadillac sales, since most in stock cars will not have the 2.7 or 3.0 and
if they do the price will be higher.

Well, I purchased the V-6 version, about 3 days ago. My wife seems to be not able to kept from punching the accelerator. I have to hold on as she rounds curves. For me, I like how it drives. Close to the ride of my XTS. The transmission seems to shift smoother than the XTS. Yet, the XTS seems to have a smoother ride. Both, I like. I like the look of the CT5; that is what caught my attention (Evergreen with tan seats). However, the drive kept my attention. It seems to respond well, when the accelerator calls for more speed. I like how it corners also, similar to my XTS.

For whatever the reason, we seem to like how Cadillacs ride. We looked and drove other brands of vehicles (Lincoln, Buick, GMC, Chevrolet). And, I thought that I would not buy another Cadillac. Yet, I did. And so far, I am pleased with the purchase.

If you have the opportunity, try the 2021 V-6 version. If more power is desired, try the V-series. When we purchase ours, someone was purchasing a V-series CT5. It has about 25 more horse power (360hp). And, he stated that he loved how it drove. For us, it would mean tickets. It would be hard not to let it roll.

I really would like to drive the new CT5 with a proper engine. I wondered about that in my video... if the underpowered 2.0t was just the wrong engine mated to this transmission. And you are so right about the handling. The CT5 inspires confidence. A lot of confidence. It handles wonderfully and those brakes are to die for!

The LSY variant of the 2.0T has about 40 less hp and torque than the LTG in the pre-2020 models. Can't not notice that.

I too, wonder if they thought maybe the 10spd would compensate for it. Audi and BMW get as fast as the LTG in similarly sized/weighted vehicles with less power, but "better" transmissions (DCT if not >8spd). Maybe just a cost/reliability thing.

What surprised me in a CT4 is how buzzy the four-banger is compared to my ATS. That may have more to do with the chassis and interior than the engine, though.

I think they intentionally created 3 tiers and the 4 cylinder is intentionally lower hp. Primarily the 2.0 is now an entry level, price point "budget" friendly luxury car that gets pretty good gas mileage and mated to the 10 speed with that low low low first gear... it's pretty peppy. It get's you into a Cadillac and you get a great looking car with loads of features. if you're a happy customer, perhaps you'll be a long term Caddy fan. The mid tier is the V. The top of the line is the Blackwing...... that Blackwing CT5-v is something else :)
