with a great engine, warmer interior and far better ride, styling will become secondary, or primary only to those that don't know any better or appreciate ride.
The Navi already has a far more reliable unit. Its just not as pretty....yet.

My Dad was a Ford man and thus, so became I...besides a used Tahoe, I have always driven Fords. After my 2011 Navigator hit 100,000 miles I was sick of waiting for the 2018 Nav and traded my old one in for a new 2016 ESV. I couldn't be happier. Though I know Lincoln will come out with a strong product, I love the Caddy's classic American chiseled lines so much better than the rounded look of the new Navigator. I wish there was a bit more space for 'stuff' in the Caddy and perhaps rear USB chargers in the third row, but I could not be happier with the tech, options, CUE and all of the other options in my platinum. Great purchase, wonderful vehicle and when Lincoln goes a bit more classic boxier again, I will be happy to take a look at another Navigator. Though I do wish the Caddy door handles lit up at night while driving, a la an updated '80's coach light..seems like it would be an incredibly simple software download to make happen. Would be so very sharp in the dark to have those things lit whenever the headlights were on...

I'm betting it'll ride better than my 16 Escalade. I'd consider the Navigator, but I'm not a fan of the infotainment screen jutting up out of the dashboard like someone bolted an mini IPAD there as an afterthought.

I have it on pretty good authority that the next Escalade will have an IRS and the interior will set a new standard for luxury...Mercedes S-Class luxury.

Driving the Escalade compared to the Navigator..There is no comparison. The Escalade is far superior in style and drive-ability to the Navigator. That said, the reliability of the Navigator is far, far superior to the Escalade (we have both in our Fleet). It is my view that if Lincoln could get there styling up to par and produce an engine with more oomph, the navigator could dominate the market.

This month's Motor Trend has a full page story on Escalade and includes news the next Escalade will have IRS.

So funny to come across this thread now, I guess most of the guys who first commented are eating their words if they have taken a Navi out for a test drive. I stopped by the Lincoln Experience in Frisco TX yesterday and after driving it, I can tell you that the Navigator has beat the Escalade. Never thought I would consider a Navi in a million years however the seats are better, you can get massage in lower levels, more comfort settings too, the interior is top notch, better color choices inside and out, and a nice ride. Cadillac will hopefully step up their game & come back with a vengeance.

Having just bought an MY2018 Escalade Platinum I'll say I ruled out the Navigator partly because it is a first model year and after purchasing MANY first model year vehicles, I'm done with doing it. Simply too many dealership visits for new model issues to make being 'the first' to have one worth it.

But the main reason I didn't even bother going to drive one was the twin turbo 6 cylinder engine. I know it doesn't bother some or even many but I preferred the 6.2 in the Escalade. I've been reading the next generation Escalade may have a 4.0L twin turbo V8 and I hope it's an option or only found on some new sporty model if true as it would unfortunately have me looking elsewhere in 3 to 3 1/2 years.

I thought the twin turbo 6 would be the weak point for me too, I love the 6.2l, however the only thing missing was the beautiful sound of the v8. The engine on the new Navi was just as quick and it turns out beats the Escalade in HP & torque. They clearly used the Escalade as their benchmark to go after. I loved the design & 4x4 features of the 2017 Lexus LX however when I drove it, the v8 in it was a joke and that was the obvious weak point against the Escalade.

My concern is not related to power and it feeling like it isn’t enough, sound, or anything like that. I simply prefer a normally aspirated engine in a truck like this even if a smaller sized twin turbo engine produces more power/better numbers. Personal preference. Plus, I’d rather drive a glorified Chevy before a glorified Ford, lol.

We all like different things. For me, the engine in my 2016 ESV is one of the major reasons I'm looking at leaving GM again. There is absolutely zero refinement with the 6.2. Nada. Garbage trucks run smoother. After our 4th Escalade we went for a GL and man that thing was smooth, and fast. It really is an awesome truck, it just wound up being too small for us so we went for our 5th, an ESV. This thing has space galore but thats about it. It rides like a lifted pickup truck, idles like a 60's camaro and always sounds and feels like it is about to grenade into a million pieces when you need to step on it. The TT V6 has been proven to be a strong, reliable engine with years of use in the books. In another year I will certainly be checking out the new Nav, it is night and day ahead of the current Esky.

Does anyone like the Navi's placement of the electronic shift buttons? I haven't used them myself but they look cumbersome and like you'd always have to lunge at them. Just going off of the pics I've seen.

I like the column shifter on the escalade. However, I realize may be in the minority on this.

I didn't take notice of them (nor have I been in the new Nav yet) but the huge column shifter in GM trucks is way past its prime...
