Guys,
Having a little trouble sorting out this one, a P0496 on my 2016 SRX, a low miler with only 41K miles.
The purge valve at the top right rear of the motor was 'the fix' for the issue most identified in YouTube, not only for my SRX, but also for a number of other vehicles.
So, being a DIY guy I just went for it, as the purge valve part was very inexpensive anyway.
I should not have, but I immediately just replaced the purge valve on the top right rear of the motor, and cleared the code.
But, the check Engine light and P0496 error code is back.
I spoke with a Cad Dealer friend about it and he told me the most likely cause is when gassing the tank up, topping tank off too much, too frequently causing gas to overflow into the purge part(s) in that area, deteriorating the seals.
I've kicked up some fuel system diagrams, and seeing some parts in the gas tank neck area, but they're not identified by part name so I can locate the right part to replace.
Am I on the right track?
I do have a vacuum testing tool kit, but to be honest in interest of time I thought I'd just purchase the most likely part(s) and just replace.
Now after speaking with my Dealer bud, he told me to replace the part at the other end by the gas tank inlet neck.
But, exactly what part is he talking about?
As always your knowledge share is much appreciated.
Thanks
