I'm happy that you like your new car, but now you are just embarrassing yourself. Your claims that the LaCrosse has a top speed of 150 MPH is simply not true and you know it. Perhaps the speedometer is labeled up to 150, but that doesn't mean it will do it. I did a little checking online and it is rated at 113 MPH. You would have a hard time getting a Mustang GT 5.0 up to that speed. The twin turbo version of the XTS may be able to get close, though. Maybe you could post a video of yours doing, say maybe 130 MPH for us?

Edit: The fastest production Buick, besides the Grand National, was in fact a 2008 - 2009 LaCrosse. It was capable of 150 MPH. It also had a 5.3L V8. You could also find it's cousin the Impala SS with the same drive train.

Correct. I meant the Super 8 LaCrosse had a top Speed of 150mph.

I guess it depends on how you define "smooth". The LaCrosse may be a little faster than the DTS, but not by much. I mean, it's not a high performance car by any stretch. Not enough for me to tolerate that V6 sound - but that's just me. It's fine for some.

Actually, your statement about the LaCrosse being faster than the DTS is incorrect according to the Motorweek tests I read tonight.

0-60 time: 7.4sec
1/4 mile: 15.7 sec @ 90 MPH

Cadillac DTS 2009 - 2011 (non-performance edition)
HP: 275
Torque: 295 lb-ft
0-60: 7.0 sec
1/4 mile: 15.6 sec @ 90 MPH

So, I'm not seeing the faster claim here. I AM seeing two vehicles that are very close in performance but a lot different in execution. Like I said from the beginning, it all boils down to personal preference.

and honestly what does it say that the V8 in the DTS didnt have more power than that?

My question is...does the suspension on the Lacrosse cut down on its torque steer?

front wheel drive has great traction...but from a driving balance standpoint it has a few issues

I'm not really sure why the Lucerne has entered the discussion. But yes, the Lucerne is similar to the DTS and is built on the same platform. There are a few differences in level of equipment and the standard engine was a 3.8L V6 whereas the Northstar V8 was standard on all DTS trim levels. This use of the same platform for multiple branding continues today. For example, the Cadillac XTS, the Buick LaCrosse, and Chevrolet Impala are all built on the same platform. Engine choices and equipment vary to some degree, but they are all basically the same car when equipped similarly.

Buick was the first with the Epsilon II platform. Cadillac took it on in 2012.

They are not the same cars. The XTS and Impalas don't have the same ride quality. Suspensions and powertrain are different between each car.

No, they are not. Actually they are exactly the same mechanically if you order the 2LTZ package on the Impala. That's what I found out at the dealership while I was getting some service done today. I have driven both because of this and another thread and spoke to the service writer and to a tech to clear this up. My Cadillac dealer sells Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac. What I found out is all three cars have the EXACT same parts on them when equipped with the 3.6L FWD drivetrain. The only thing different is the external sheetmetal and the interior style. Some options are not available on the Impala such as All-Wheel Drive and the optional XTS twin-turbo V6. So I drove an XTS, a LaCrosse, and an Impala. Guess what? No diff at all. I was surprised the Impala was just as quiet, but it is. I may actually consider an Impala for a work car. The Impala is a much nicer car than the previous version - actually a whole different world in comparison. Quit spreading misinformation. You are entitled to your opinions and preferences, but these are the facts. This has turned into your personal Cadillac and Impala bashing thread. Didn't you buy a Buick? If you really felt good about your decision you would stop trying to convince everyone else how much better a Buick is while posting in a Cadillac forum.

Why don't you go research for yourself. I'm not spreading misinformation. You are. How long have you been driving Cadillacs for? People have debates on forums, thats why they are called forums. For you to say that the Buick Lacrosse, Cadillac XTS, and Chevy Impalas are the same cars is ludicrous.

The all have 3.6 engines but with different variations. They all share the same LFX version. However, the LaCrosse and XTS come in different 3.6 versions as well.
They have different suspensions and different transmissions as well.

If you believe that they are the same cars, then the 2006 to 2011 DTS' s are exactly the same as the 2000 Deville. GM just changed the body style.

A lot of cars have similarities, but that doesn't make them the same car. A base model DTS is not the same as a Platinum model DTS. Wait maybe to you they are, but they are truly not.

I'm not bashing Cadillacs or Impalas. Read all my posts and you will see I have a love for Cadillacs. However, Cadillac is going through a transitioning phase with the new guy in charge. I will wait until they are done to see the finished products.

In closing, there are many threads comparing the DTS between other luxury sedans in this forum. Every body has their own opinion.

You also said something similar in a previous thread about the XTS and Impalas being the same car. Someone shut you down real quick. I test drove a 2015 Impala before I bought my 2013 Lacrosse. They do not ride the same and "all similarities stop at the frame".

You probably think Lincoln Town Cars and Devilles ride the same too.

They were not interested in facts - even when printed in black and white. The article linked in that thread piqued my interest. So I looked it up. I found a lot of similarities. I found identical horsepower and torque ratings for the 3.6L engine and the same gears ratios for the 6 speed automatic across all three cars. So because of our friendly little "debate" I asked an experienced tech that works on all of them while I was at the dealership getting my oil changed and transmission flushed on my 2011 DTS. Someone that has serviced my cars since 1997. The test drives were enough for me.

I guess I better tell all publications who published the driveline specs they are wrong? - and the service tech while I'm at it.

How long have I been driving Cadillacs? Since 1997. I have only owned 3, but owned many other vehicles in my 53 years including the 2014 BMW 545i and 2012 Vette sitting in the garage beside the DTS. I am a car fanatic and have been since I was very young.

I was getting my rotors and brakes replaced at my Cadillac dealership. I asked my Master Tech about the comparison between the XTS and my Lacrosse. He agreed with you about them having the same engine with the FWD. He also says gm loves the 3.6 FWD engines.

You were correct and I apologize. However, one car is 20k less than the other ;-)

The Buick has much more modern features that will make the DTS appear so dated. I'm talking about features like keyless entry, push button start, bluetooth audio, more up to date nav system, interior piping lighting, heads up display among many other technological items you figured would've been implemented in the DTS.

But to be fair, the Buick pales in comparison to the DTS when it comes to styling. The DTS still turns heads, even of owners of XTS', CTS', and ATS'. The DTS is just a sharp design and it commands presence. Oh and the large trunk on the DTS is one to love. I have very large containers that I have to transport sometimes and the DTS trunk just swallows it.

So if you want a car that looks cool with a large trunk, go with the DTS. If you want a car with a modern interior and options, go with the Buick.

I was really close to trading my DTS for the Buick, but with the CT6 on the horizon, it looks promising from a design standpoint to keep Cadillac as an option for me. $75k base price point may steer me away though.

Great post! I agree! The 2016 Lacrosse will have a bigger trunk and be a little bit longer. New platform for them.
