2008 CTS RWD drive shaft bearing gone

So as the subject says my Drive Shaft Bearing is damaged. When under my car I noticed the bearing is clearly exposed and you can hear a hum when driving.

So I called my local Cadillac Dealership where I purchased the car back in 2013. They said the bearing does not come on its own. I need to buy the complete Drive Shaft for roughly $900 plus tax. Have I lost touch with reality? I have owned 2 x STS's and 1 x CTS and have never seen such a scam.

So I searched the internet for an aftermarket driveshaft bearing and found a ton. Even by a good company like Dorman.

So I was ready to buy until I seen that all the ones for sale were only for AWD drive shaft and not RWD.

Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket drive shaft bearing for my 08 CTS RWD? Silly to think of spending that much on Complete Drive Shaft when all that is needed is a support bearing.

Hope to hear from you guys as I stress.:want:

Hi,

Browsed this site but never posted til now....Have a 2009 CTS with DI 3.6, RWD, and have same issue and same confusion with advertisements.

Came across this in my searching and wondering if anyone has heard of them or done business with them before. They have whole driveshaft with new Guibo's on both ends for $487. Might be cheaper to piece parts together but this would be very fast and easy to replace.

Thank You and glad to be on this site.

I posted info on this recently in another related thread that shouldn't be too many weeks ago. Search Rockauto for the center support bearing and ebay is a good source for the guibo as well as the center support. Personally I would not purchase a remanufactured driveshaft over the one the car came equipped with unless it makes the most practical sense vs. what it would cost for a good driveline shop to repair the original. Many of the parts are interchangeable between the cars if not all considering with a few small exceptions they're identical within the generation between the same body style. I have no idea why GM treats them differently in the case of parts that appear to have no difference beyond a part number.

The Center Support bearing for the AWD and the RWD is different..... you have to get the whole driveshaft BUT the driveshaft is not available even from the dealership.... so we got one in from Dorman that said it was supposed to fit the 08 CTS...... it did not and Dorman could not even supply one......we're stuck.

The driveshafts are supposed to come off back order mid-month. Or so rumor has it, I'm waiting for one myself.
