I have a trip coming up of about 1300 miles each way between MN and TX. Plan on towing a sports car (3600lbs) on a featherlite 20ft aluminum car trailer (1200-1300lbs). What are the experienced members thoughts on doing this with my escalade? Any issues with attempting this other than tossing it in tow mode and keeping the speeds between 60-65mph? Trans temp concerns or handling issues? Will it pull the load? Mileage expectations? I have a Ford Superduty with a 7.3 that has made the trip before and got about 14-16mpg but the ride is nothing like the escalade.

10 mpg is all we get towing our boat (6-7K). Keeping it below 65 REALLY helps though. Expect 8-9 mpg if you're on the gas pedal. Might be able to squeeze 11 mpg or so if you keep it below 60mph (not easy to do that - I know). The 6.2L pulls the weight easily (though not quite as easy as a diesel though).

Corvette, with a few women piled in, BMW, Camero, Mustang, all in that range of weight. I tow a 26 ft Featherlite with 4-5 snowmobiles, weight a little over 7k. I really eat fuel in the mountains, 5-8 mpg with chains in the snow, but we always get there, 10 mpg on flat ground
