2005 CTS-V radio issues aftermarket radio

Hey guys, got a new radio put in my wife's 2005 Cts-v. At first it didn't want to start after reconnecting the battery. Connected the old one and it started. Put the new one in and it has been fine ever since. Flash forward a month.

Her battery died today. Car would not start. Unplug the radio and it cranks right up. Any experience with this? Sadly we tossed her factory radio.

Update: just turned off vats and now it will start, but nothing on the dash lights up with the new radio plugged in....getting really frustrated.

The radio was a Sony double din. The radio does not appear to be the issue. The adapter was a PAC from Crutchfield. I did some more messing around and without the radio even installed, if I plug in the PAC adapter the whole dash goes black. The only part of the adapter that causes issues is a red plug. It has 5 wires going to it. 2 purple, a white, a white and black and a green. Only the purple seems to connect to anything on the car side. The other 3 go to empty sockets.

Certainly sounds like something ain't right with the PAC module. Are you sure it's the right thing, and not for a non-NAV car?

Just searching back through old threads, I found this guys for sale ad in which he mentions that he used 2 different PAC modules - For Sale - 04-07 CTS - Double Din Nav Kit - Retain DIC -.... (I think the '06/07 cars had steering wheel stereo controls, so maybe that's why?)

A couple threads that might help? I don't know, just a couple I came across of folks that have done aftermarket stereo installs.

I know there are a number of other threads in this forum and in the CTS-V Appearance Mods forum.
