Hi -

My Cadillac XT4 has less than 50,000 miles and developed an oil leak. I took it to the dealership first in June. I was told it had a timing cover gasket leak. The dealership "fixed" it by changing the timing cover. This did not fix it. It has been back and forth to the dealership since then. They have replaced this cover multiple times. They have replaced the oil pan. Apparently, they cannot figure out where the leak is but can confirm it is leaking. It has been back at the dealership for 17 days now.

They do not reach out, but when I call - they always says it's still leaking and they are ordering more parts. I can see where they are driving my vehicle multiple times a day. They have put over 130 miles on my car since it has been there. I understand you need to drive the vehicle to find the leak. 76 miles in one day? Multiple hard accelerations, and hard braking? 12% of the time, over 80 mph.. Not sure but that doesn't sound like you're putting around the block, letting it run.

I'm not sure why they are driving it, if they don't have parts to fix it. I am also not sure why they can't identify the problem.
I have reached out to the dealership GM, but he does not take phone calls.
I have reached out to Cadillac, who called the dealership & regurgitated the same line from the dealership. "They have ordered more parts."

This is my second XT4, and I love it.. but honestly, at this point - I'm not sure I would buy another one.

I am at a loss, as to what to do.

Any suggestions?

2.0 turbo LSY engine is notorious for cam carrier oil leak. 99.9% sure that’s your problem. My ‘19 XT4 began leaking @ 14,000 miles. Do some research. T joint area of cam carrier had insufficient sealer applied when manufactured.
 
Upon noticing an oil leak (see image) on the garage floor 3 days after purchasing from a pre-owned car dealership, we searched & found this post. Fearing the worst, an appointment was arranged with a dealership 18 mi away under new ownership & looking to re-establish trust after scathing service dept reviews during prior ownership. After sharing some of the feedback mentioned here via phone, we dropped off the vehicle yesterday morning for inspection expecting to hear the cam carrier gasket (or worse) would need to be replaced starting on Monday (tomorrow). Within 2 hrs of drop-off, the service dept called to advise the multi-point inspection revealed a "crushed" oil drain plug seal from the last pre-purchase "service" by the seller (pre-owned car dealership), which we were quite relieved to hear. We authorized the recommended oil change w/filter & replacement drain plug (along with new drain plug seal) even though the oil reflected 76% remaining usage & Uber'd back to the dealership to pick up the vehicle before closing hoping to never have to deal w/leaking fluids for the entire duration of ownership.
 
Glad I found this post . Having the same issue with mine went in for service only has 1 qrt of oil in the vehicle, no signs of leaking on garage floor or anything. Until today they put the vehicle up & its oil all over bottom structure of the engine & parts.
 
Was your oil leak fixed?
 
Is anyone still having issues with the 24 XT4? I am looking at buying a used with 30,000 miles and wondering if I should stay clear of them?
I'm pretty sure the seal issue early XT4 2.0's had was cleared up long before m/y 2024
 
I wish I had known there was an issue as I bought a 2023 XT4 December 30, 2023 and it is now in the shop for two weeks with this leak. This is my third Cadilliac (first XT4) and it just may be my last Cadilliac knowing that they have known about this issue. I have just over 19K miles. :mad:
 
Makes zero sense, as the drain plug seal is an Oring and cannot be overtightened or “crushed” as there is a hard stop built into the female threaded drain plug hole to prevent that
I'm late to the party on this thread, but White Gas is exactly right. You cannot overtighten the oil filter plug. It's a 1/4 turn camlock plug.
