sounds like the tech didn't bother to perform a cylinder leak down before teardown. Seems like the more training techs get, the more they forget the basics of diagnosis. All they are capable of are boomerang repairs.

Please add me to the list. 2014 Cadillac CTS 2.0t (early 2014) 4000 miles, piston cracked and I'm getting my engine replaced.

When I first got the car (100 miles) my oil life was already at 70%, if that's helpful.

Also, my dealership said GM was back ordered on my engine, so they ordered from somewhere else. Cars been in the shop for over 2 weeks now.

This seems odd to me, where else could they get the engine?

That's strange about the oil life. I once interrogated my girlfriend because I let her drive my V to work one day and it came back with 5% drop in oil life and I accused her of racing it, lol.

I would assume the oil life is mileage and time based and as it sits the life goes down. I am putting about 3k miles a year on my weekend car (replacing the oil once a year) but if the car was telling me when to change the oil and was only based on miles it could take years before it told me to do it.

David, the the oil change is based on calender time also, along with everything oemtech mentioned above. Every time I do a track day it drop drastically. Also how many miles are on the car. When I got over a 100k on my first V it started coming up at 3000k miles all the time.

I also have a Cadillac ATS 2013 2.0 currently in the shop and I need a new engine as well. This is just one of my issues with the car. Tomorrow is day 20 of it being in the shop bc although the engine is replaced, there is now the check engine light that they cant seem to figure out why. Mind you I brought it in after seeing Trabilitrack and they told me it should reset itself after turning the car on and off a few times. Im very close to being a lemon. I will never get Cadillac again!

I thought I would chime in since there have been so many negative posts concerning the ATS 2.0 Turbo. I own a 2013 - not sure of the build date, but I will check after work. I took it in to the dealer in Missoula, Montana just after New Year's to have the plugs replaced and the ECM reprogrammed as part of the recall. I did not have trouble with the vehicle before the plugs were replaced and I do not have any trouble with it now. The only difference is that it seems a little less zippy when I accelerate hard. Not sure what would cause that, but it seems to have less torque. I am, however, getting better gas mileage. I average just over 25 combined in very mountainous terrain. On the flat it jumps to mid-30's.

Hopefully the good luck continues - I love my ATS.

I'd have to agree. My car has treated me perfectly. Only small issue was the MAF sensor had to be replaced. No big deal. 15k miles and running

I have just received the recall notice for possible piston damage. I have read all the posts. Before I take my 2013 ATS, turbo (12K miles), in to the dealer, what symptoms should I be thinking off? I do seem to have lost some power when punching it on entrance to the highway at times, and the amount of oil being used up seems a bit excessive, and the mpg has dropped from 29 to 23 and change (not sure if that is just more city driving). Beyond that, what symptoms do folks have who have had major repairs done on the pistons. Thanks much, Dragan
