03 SLS Radiator basic question oil cooler yes or no

I need a new radiator 03 SLS. Options for radiator are w/o Engine oil cooler or with Engine oil cooler just a $15 difference in cost at Rock Auto. On the drivers side of the radiator I have an upper and lower pipe coming in but I think that is trans axle fluid. I'm not sure if that's what they mean by engine oil cooler (I would say no). How can I be sure ? Can I just order the one with the engine oil cooler and not use it or is there a size difference ? I won't call it a dumb question but it's pretty basic. LOL Hope everyone is well and thanks for the reply

Re: 03 Seville SLS Radiator basic question oil cooler yes or no

Haven't looked up your specific, but that was common for GM. Factory install one radiator that can do all, and just hookup what's needed per the order. Speeds up factory line, reduces space on the line, saves inventory costs.

Your choice, (my gm trucks have the unused cooler and they work fine)

If you have an engine oil cooler (HD cooling system, RPO V03) then the radiator has a set of fittings and pipes - similar to the transmission fluid cooler fittings - on the front side of the passenger side end tank.

It's doubtful that the economy cruiser SLS had an engine oil cooler - look on the RPO sticker for code V03 - under the spare tire cover.

Even if you wind up with an engine oil cooler radiator there's no need to plug the unused fittings - no coolant pressure involved with the cooler fittings.

The RPO sticker - what's built into THAT car. Decipher the codes with a Google of "2003 cadillac rpo codes".

correct -

NO - the EOC would be in the plastic tank on the other side of the radiator -
it does the same thing for the engine oil as the trans cooler does for trans fluid -

How can I be sure ?
look at the RIGHT side radiator tank -
if there are two lines attached - like the trans lines on the LEFT tank - you DO have the EOC -
if there are no lines - you do NOT have the EOC -

it would be VERY rare for an 03 SLS to have the EOC -

I recommend the SPECTRA PREMIUM CU2513 - around $106 - including shipping - from rockauto.com -
this is a quality radiator made in North America -
