No word on a refresh but it would make sense for GM to do one. These are tumultuous times though for GM to find new suppliers for components to replace those in the current versions of any of its vehicles.

Good news for now.

Sad about the XT6 but I get it and it was what we were all expecting in the first place.
 
XT5 production extending to the end of the 2026 Model Year is indeed good to hear. Perhaps there is renewed interest for Cadillac to continue ICE production with the optimistic political environment with emissions mandate reductions.

The question remains for the XT5 is how will the vehicle content survive extended production. We saw content reductions as the '24 model was extended into '25 production. Will '26 see further reductions or will Cadillac restore some of the downgrades 24-25? I think this close to the '26 Model year, it is unrealistic to see any sort of refresh, especially with the trade policies making it more challenging to source components across country borders. Perhaps if the political environment is favorable, the next step to refresh for '27 may materialize.
 
Has anyone seen any additional supporting articles on continuing the XT5 production into 2026?

It's not yet an "official announcement" and it seems to get all of its information from the same link you posted.

What I find interesting is that the article suggests that the XT5 is continuing due to strong sales. Yes, Cadillac sold 26k of them for each of the past two years and slightly above that for the previous two years (which were difficult years for any car maker) but those numbers are half of what they were in the XT5's first few years (avg around 60k/year in the US). I guess that they've long since amortized their R&D and tooling so the car must still be a money-maker.

OTOH, the XT6 was never a big seller. Its numbers though have been a quite steady 20k units/year since 2020, even in 2024. I suspect that GM has figured out a way to keep only one of them in the Spring Hill plant line-up. Since the XT5 has already proven it can sell decent numbers alongside its EV replacement, it got the nod.

And I agree that a refresh of the XT5 is a long shot especially given recent economic turmoil but stranger things have happened.
 
I am fan of the XT5. Bought a new "17", then a new 20 'sport', now a 2024 'sport", so I must like it. (lol) But the mags (also a fan of them say it is a "ho-hum" car. Performance & handling are modest in the face of others in the segment. This time, they barely got me. I put in long miles, 900 in a day, 1200 mile trips. I would really find a hybrid with a performance bump appealing. But, China might get one, I guess. Cadillac may have missed a good opportunity to take a very good market performer to new heights with the XT5. But, so far, they will lose me next time.

It's fair to say that you've been good to GM and they've done well by you. If GM could sell two future Cadillacs for every one of their first time buyers, they'd be doing very well indeed.

This was GM Authority today.

While Cadillac originally planned to sunset the XT5 following the conclusion of the 2025 model year, similar to the XT6, The General recently confirmed that the XT5 will now remain in production through at least the end of the 2026 calendar year. Meanwhile, the second-gen XT5 is now available as a Chinese-market exclusive.
If I am reading correctly the refreshed 2025 XT5 being sold in China is a Hybrid. In my opinion if such a refreshed model were to be sold here the LYRIQ would not stand a chance as the XT5 here is still out selling the LYRIQ.
I would purchase a refreshed XT5 Hybrid in a second, bring it on Cadillac, I triple dog dare you😂
 
I'm with you, @MHT - although I am not a fan of 'electric cars', per se, I much prefer the ICE engine. If Cadillac/GM refreshes the XT5, and makes it a hybrid for 2026, I would look it over very, very closely and actually consider the car! I'd trade in my 2024 XT5 if everything was right!!
