It's been a while since Cadillac had a roadster in its product portfolio. Since the XLR went out of production at the end of 2009, to be precise. But while the CTS Coupe (and its high-performance counterpart, the CTS-V Coupe) may fill the niche for a svelte wreath-badged two-door, Cadillac may be planning on something a little more windy - and more affordable - in the near future.

According to our compatriots over at Inside Line, Cadillac is considering spinning a two-seat roadster off the rear-wheel-drive platform of the new ATS sedan. If given the green light, the ATS roadster would likely be positioned squarely at the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLK and BMW Z4, maximizing the use of the ATS platform while giving The General a potentially intriguing rival to its German competitors.Cadillac may build two-seat roadster off ATS originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 10 Jan 2012 17:00:00 EST. Being that Cadillac was told to "spank" BMW, I'm totally on board and thrilled at this announcement because they can. Even though my loan papers are still wet on my 3 wk old '08, I'm working on how to obtain the ATS (a testament to a family who has always driven dodges and to the end of their lives! lol)

that is a great news..
ATS - Roadster = Mercedes SLK and BMW Z4
ATS-V Roaster = SLK 55AMG..BMW Z4m

CTS Coupe = Mercedes SL and Bmw 6
CTS-V coupe = Mercedes SL63 AMG and BMW M6

and Final the XLR = Mercedes CL + 4 door + Hardtop
=> Rolls Royce Level with Reasonable price...

yes, it is the shilly idea of thinking building XLR base on the Corvette...it will ruin the XLR same as before..

the Corvette is already a SUPERCAR. It is not CHEAP..
u can go and Compare the Price of the ZR1 and the Audi R8...it pretty equal..u can't say what is more expensive and what is cheaper...
it depend on the trim level it base on.
