Wasn't that basically the gen 1 Equinox? And CAPTIVA? So basically the rental companies are holding you captive in this little crapbag? What fail...

And I LOVE how they always blame rental fleets for bad resale. It couldn't be b/c what you sold to the rental fleet was basically crap, could it??

There are a lot of Camrys in fleets, and until the runaway Mary problem, they didn't seem to be having a problem w/resale value...

Just like a government agency...exact same mentality...

I have rented ALOT of cars in my life, and I have NEVER seen a Camry available for rental. It's always the same bunch - Impala, Malibu, Fusion, Taurus (used to be 500), Charger, Avenger/Sebring. ONE time I came across an Altima in the list of choices.

Basically what i'm saying is that I have no doubt you can rent a Camry at many locations on this earth, but I bet you real money that if you look at the number of Camrys in the rental world vs. the number of Malibus or Fusions, the ratio would be something like 1:100.

That DEFINITELY makes a difference in resale value.

I've seen quite a few of the current gen, and have rented previous generations on occasion. I avoid them like the plague, but they're out there...lurking...

I've never seen a Camry rental either, but Toyota did increase its sales to fleet customers over the last couple years, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's more out there than before.
Went i returned the rental this week they had a Camry at Enterprise
first camry i ever saw as a rental also

what are you talking about? it was never gone:
Yeah, you're totally right. Other than the fact it has a different wheelbase, suspension, engine, transmission, sheetmetal, glass, interior, switchgear, light housings, roof rails, side mirrors and wheels, that is.

Other than those minor differences though, totally accurate. :bigroll:

Seeing as how I drive a ton of rental cars at my job, there are way more import sedans being rented than there used to be. I'd say there is an equal ratio of Altimas, Camrys, Fusions, Sonotas, Sebrings, and Malibus in the rental fleets right now. There are still eleventy billion more impalas for rent though. Grand Marquis are real popular as well.

For smaller cars, the Nissan Sentra and Versa seem to be the most popular right now. Both of those cars are utter rubbish, and look almost exactly the same inside and out. Buying a Sentra is just a good way to overpay for a Versa IMO.

i lol'd

Technically, the Saab 9-4 and Cadillac SRX are on a hybrid Theta-Epsilon platform. I think the SRX/9-4 platform is lighter and uses a more sophisticated car-like suspension. I don't remember where I read that though.

My daughter has a Saturn Vue (with 3.6L); pretty darn good vehicle. GM dumped Saturn just as they were getting good product back in the mix.

I've been a GM fan all my life but still get infuriated when GM rests on its laurels (lets a great car languish), people get dismayed (looks for a different brand) and GM wonders why they lost market share. Then (GM) produces another homerun (and repeat).
