Your thoughts? The good, the bad and ugly of 2015 SRX Luxury Edition

I must admit I have never owned a Cadillac, but I have recently had my eye on a 2015 SRX Luxury Edition. It has low miles, is super clean and appears to be in great condition. Having never owned a Cadillac, I am in interested in knowing more about them-more specifically the SRX. I don’t just want the generic reviews that I can read in other areas - I want to hear from you all the forum - those who really know. What can you share with me to help me make a more informed decision? Facts or opinions...I would love to hear it all.

I own a 2015 SRX Performance Edition and couldn't be happier. This Crossover vehicle does everything I ask of it. It can carry plenty of stuff, it is fast enough (at least for me and I own a Mercedes SL convertible for comparison), and it looks great. I actually receive an occasional compliment on its looks. So, if you can find a good SRX then I say go for it. Good luck.

We had a '16 Luxury Edition on our lot that I considered buying. We had had 4 Cadillacs before, so I am quite familiar with them. We love them, but one lesson that I learned a while back,...since your buying a Cadillac, go ahead and get the top of the line or near it. The Luxury Edition is not. One thing is that they have to sorry azz headlights that later corode and give out no light. It doesn't have the top line Bose stereo (8 speakers vs 10). 2 heated seats instead of 4,tri-climate zone, etc. Ours(2015 Premium Collection) has ACC(apparently a rare option) driver assist package, HID adaptive headlamps, etc...all of which are only available on the Performance and Premium Editions.

Once I learned about them, I searched the internet high and low to find one in our area(with the right color, of course since it was her car) and found ours at Carmax in Las Vegas. We had it shipped here and bought it. We are very happy with it, but I did have to fix a number of things on it while it was still under warranty.

Best advice is to drive it. Willy has solid advice most often but we drove a couple premium 2014's and passed. For us the ride was rough/stiff. We chose the ride quality of the "lesser" luxury edition...2014 as well. Much more to our liking.

Yes we gave up some bells and whistles but wanted something that felt good to us. Yes, what we like might not be what you like hence the advice. Drive it.

The Luxury Edition will most likely have a softer ride than a Performance Edition. So, if your roads are a bit rough than a Luxury would probably be your best bet. I live in Southern California and our roads, for the most part, are smooth. That said, I have been enjoying a sportier ride at the expense of a softer ride. To the OP, take the advice from others and consider your roads then drive them both. Good luck.

I am a bit puzzled about comments on ride of more expensive editions. We have a cousin who has a performance and when we rode in it we definitely felt a harder ride. Not objectionable just harder. We bought a Performance edition and do not feel a harder ride. Just changed tires a couple of weeks ago and it rides even better.

Based on my experience I would say the ride is very specific to the individual vehicle.

Pay the $$$ to have it checked out by a good mechanic. How low are the miles? The feedback I have gotten from my mechanic friends is Cadillacs tend to develop grounding problems that are tough to find. Also they recommend dumping them after 100,000 miles. I have about 25,000 to go on my 2012. Also get one with the HID headlights. If you look you will see a lot of complaints about the regular ones.

Thank you for the response. The car has about 13,000 miles on it. To be honest, I was not in the market for Cadillac when I found this one, so I am not just set on buying a Cadillac. My thoughts are that I will find out what I can about the SRX on the forum from the people who actually own one and don’t have any motive to sway me one way or another. Then, after hearing from everyone and some additional researching, I will decide if I want to purchase this particular one. So that being said, I will check on the type of headlights, and other things mentioned by others in this thread, but most likely won’t go looking for an SRX that has specific features - Will just have to decide if I can live with the features and specs on the one I am looking at.

Got to post something, 1 have a 2014 Premium SRX, and love it. Bose speakers, sunroof, HID lights, nav., all the toys. Here's my issue, wheel bearings, replaced 2 bearings (out of warranty), also though i have 101,000 Kms on the vehicle (67,000 miles), my warranty on the drive shaft just expired in Oct 2019. GM will do nothing to help me with the cost, i thought maybe some good will but NOPE. It's only a $2,000 repair ! Oh yea, 2 months befoe i purchased this vehicle the electronic dash piece had to be replaced ($2,000+), just saying. But i've owned 15+ cars in my lifetime and never replaced a drive shaft. The front hood is aluminum right, well its bubbling and its not covered, aluminum doesn't rust, so i know its application error, but no warranty, let you think about that (check your hood edges.
oh ya, i baby my car so it's not abused.
If buying a 2015 it tells me you'll need a extended warranty when buying i also bought it but it expired 2 months ago (ya).
if i was to do it all over again i would have purchased a 2 year old vehicle, probably a SRX or one of the newer ones, i like the 4yr/80,000 warranty. Like i said, love my SRX, but i'm thinking to a Toyota once its fixed, only time will tell. Home this helps you !!

I honestly think most of what people gripe about concerning these cars is going to be pretty much the same for Toyotas or any other newer vehicle. It's not 1969 anymore. These damned cars are ridiculously complicated and all the extra gadgets are just expensive repairs bills waiting to happen. So buy what you like and just bite the bullet and pay for your repairs. Or buy an extended warranty from an authorized dealer if that makes you sleep easier at night.

It also helps to read up on the various car forums BEFORE you buy. People that only join the site to gripe after they've screwed up won't get much sympathy from me. As always some cars are winners and some are money pits. Take your time to find a well cared for car and you'll likely be happy with it. Regardless of the brand.

I bought my 2016 Luxury in January 2018, CPO. It was, and still is, perfection. It was my first Cadillac, so I didn't know the subtle nuances between the trims. When my car went out of bumper-to-bumper last year, I purchased an expensive Platinum MPP through my dealer, with the intention of cashing it in when I buy another car from my dealer. I've had no problems with anything in my car, replaced the tires this summer, but that brought the trade-in up. I have loved the car for the few years I've had it.

My Caddy is 2014 , Premium.
18000 miles of riding through desert this year.
standard issues with wheel hubs ( all 4 are replaced) , surprises from electronic devices and non-operational adaptive cruise control and navigation.
despite of all I love my barge very much. He is real super flying sofa carrying my poor body across space. The best feelings ever of driving I do face from Cadillac
