I go pick my 08 STS tomorrow morning! 4 hr drive away but that is fine. Will give some good time see what this beast will do.

BUT-- The car does not come with the NAV CD's or a second remote. I'll head over the the famous auction site but need to know what the heck I am looking for.

Does anyone know WHICH DVD/CD I should get? How do I find out which will work and which won't.

The DVD/Nav RPO code is YQ4

Same thing on the Second Key FOB? Which one?

The dealer wants $185 for a second FOB and $250 for a Nav Disk. F that!

I would demand a 2 FOB from the seller. All cars come with 2 FOBS.

2008 use the new style FOB with a slide in key. You are getting a key aren't you? A similar FOB shouldn't cost too much on the auction site. Without at least one real key you could easily get locked-out. Re-keying through a locksmith is an option but you might check GM Parts Direct for a key & lock set if req.

You are likely entitled to a Nav Disk Set through www.gmnavdisc.com. Once the VIN is in your name, you get two disk upgrades (once per year) and the previous owner isn't likely to have used both.

Shouldn't a good auctioneer indicate the car the remote came from? Look for one like the pictured in the manual.

V1.0 PN 10381281 YR 2005
V2.0 PN 15794606 YR 2006
V3.0 PN 15924195 YR 2007
V4.0 PN 25882830 YR 2008
V5.0 PN 25976806 YR 2009
All of these will work in your STS but the later the version the more up to date the data.

Be aware that there are other PN's out there that work. The differences are minor. I think they went went a two disk set in Mid-2007 and only the POI's are disk-specific.

Dual-layer copies can work fine for some people but technically the software license only permits users a single backup copy.

bought my nav disc on ebay for $26, a spare fob for $28 and a key for $14
mine was missing the nav disc and the spare fob and key, wasn't a big deal and much less $$ than the dealer wanted. Good luck!

Do yourself a favor and avoid aggrevation and don't buy :tisk:any disc for your STS other than what was listed in the previous thread or you'll be sorry.The disc works in the STS, Corvette,Saab 9-5 and the Grand Prix ONLY.

In reality, I use my Garmin, but find some of the functions of the nav are locked out without a Nav disc.

I'm not picky at this point. GMNAVDISK^COM was a wasted phone call. They just wanted to sell me one for $199 + shipping.....

I'm glad I spotted your post -- I did a lookup for my STS-V and it showed I had 25882830; and when I just went to the car and took out the DVD case I noticed I have v5.0 25976806 from when I got my first free upgrade last year (my car being an '06 wasn't titled until mid '07 so technically I would say '08 and '09 are my upgrade years)

I ordered it in early July and it took until late August to receive (since it was free I was patient)

From a post earlier you said you are current with Pt #25976806. That should be the 09 update... So if you have an earlier one not being used, that would be great and much appreciated.
