A regular Mustang GT would beat an STS so one with more power would just beat an STS by that much moreWho would win ?
Back when I used to be at the drag strip 2-3 times a week I saw more stock GT's running low 14's then anything else. I saw a couple dip into the high 13's stock and my buddies 2001 GT ran a 13.99 bone stock. Barely into the 13's but it's in there. I've never heard of a bone stock STS running low 14's bone stock. I've seen anything from mid 14's to mid 15's in STS's at the track but I can honestly say I never remember seeing a ETC at a drag strip. My sister got my Spec V after I lost my license and my dad (Katshot) myself and my sister all went up to Englishtown for a Caddy meet a couple years ago now and one of the guys who used to frequent this forum had a Eldorado but it was before the N* and my sister beat him by a decent amount, but that's the only Eldorado I have ever seen at a drag stripa GT would beat an STS?
maybe a new one
but the older style like the one he pictured...
idk
my ETC ate them up (stock ones that is) all day long
A GT has a SOHC 4.6 while the Mark VIII has a DOHC 4.6. Two different engines with two totally different power bands. The SOHC has more down low torque but has decent top end power as well and with the GT also having a stick shift you have less drivetrain power loss as well as being able to bring the rpm's up for the hole shot. Doing the DOHC 4.6 with a automatic is just plain stupid. All of its power is up higher in the rpm's so it's a slug off the line. Do a T-56 conversion to a Mark VIII or a Mercury Marauder and they would be two totally different cars and put out much better performance numbers. The STS's are only good for at the very best a mid 14 second 1/4. They would be able to beat a GT with a automatic but with a good driver in a stick shift the GT will beat the STS pretty good. Hell I was racing my dad's Mustang GT convertible against an Audi S4 and was pulling him by a decent amount once I hit 4th gear. At redline in 4th it was doing 140 mph.I don't know but I think the seville should be able to take the GT. I had three people and full tank of gas in my Mark VIII. I also started from a bad point, since the power didn't rush in like its suppose to and lost by 1 car lenght. I don't think they have good high end power, so I think a seville should be able to take them. One thing to consider is that the seville doesn't have as good of a power up top as the Mark VIII but I think it will still pull away.
