XT5 pulls right even after front end alignment

We purchased a 2017 XT5 about 2 months ago. It has what appears to be an unfixable pull to the right. This car has been back to the dealership where we bought it twice, where they say there is nothing wrong with it. The pull is "normal for this car" They won't even check it in for service now. It has been into the Cadillac dealer four times now (two different dealers, twice each) and each time it is returned, it is exactly the same..it pulls to the right. The dealers have done multiple alignments and replaced a left side wheel hub having no effect on the pull but the front end is quieter. Cadillac does agree it pulls. We took it to an independent shop where they said the alignment numbers were off, they aligned it, and the exact same result, it pulls to the right. At no time during the seven shop trips has the pull improved at all. I get the same answers from everyone such as: It needs tires, the tires are brand new with maybe 500 miles now. If I rotate the tires to the other side does it now pull to the left? No, it pulls right. I've already done this. Crown in the road: does the loaner cars (Cadillacs) and my other vehicles not respond to this crown? Because they don't pull to the right on the same road. I'm understanding this is an electronic issue from other complaints. I'm also hearing Cadillac is aware of this issue but it's techs aren't aware of how to fix it. I'm researching and going to try again, but after that I'm taking the Lincoln MKX I've been looking at since buying this Cadillac. If it can't be fixed I'm going to loose the money and buy again. I bought a nice car because that's what I wanted to have. This has been a horrible experience.

Yes we did, we agreed it needed an alignment and the dealer said no problem we'll get that done. We left the car there and picked it up on Monday. It pulled to the right all the way home and of course we called them and they responded with "we found nothing wrong with your car" And the circle of nonsense begins. We had it off the lot so now it's our problem.

Stealerships. Take your money and leave you high and dry.
My very first car that i bought with my own hard earned money was a 76 Mustang II Cobra model. Drove it off the lot after signing the papers to work. Ran out of gas in the lot at work. Tank said 1/4 left called dealer. They came and towed it back to stealership said fuel sender bad. Cost me $100 "copay" to get it fixed. Ugh. A PIA cars are ! lol

Talk with the service department about alignment procedure for these new vehicles.

The XT5 has Electronic Power Steering. A possible cause for lead/pull is Electronic Power Steering (EPS) steering position and torque sensors not calibrated correctly.

Adjustments are made with the GM Tech Tool which is the tool used by technicians at your dealership as a scan tool. It does all of the functions needed by the technician to diagnose issues with your vehicle including commanding the various control modules and communicate with GM technical support resources.

The steering wheel center position as well as right and left steering stops are adjusted electronically.

Have a 2017 xt5 fwd. Mar 2022 it started pulling to the right. over the past year, the dealer (Gold Coast) has done 4 alignments replaced bushings and had me replace the tires. They agree there is still a problem but said they cannot fix without Cadillac engineering .
The car has lane departure and other “safety” features that occasionally stop working So I called Cadillac, their suggestion was to take to another dealer so “a different set of eyes” could look it over.
Thinking the next stop should be NHTSA. Anyone try that path?

Did you take it to another dealer as suggested by Cadillac? A complaint to NHTSA will not help in the short term because they need to accumulate several instances of a safety issue before investigating. They do not act upon individual complaints.

I know this is an old thread, but I have had the same "pulling to the right" issue with my 2017 XT5 for 45000 miles. Previous dealerships have been unable to fix the problem despite new tires, alignments, etc. so I just lived with the issue. Recently, I got new tires again and a 4-wheel alignment at a different dealership and the problem worsened. Brought it back in. Thank goodness this dealership had a competent mechanic who was able to fix the problem! From his notes, he "performed a yaw rate sensor and steering angle calibration" and the problem was fixed! Moral: you need to check the electronics in these modern cars, the problem isn't always mechanical.

My 2017 XT5 was working fine until they replaced the front bearings at ~58,000 miles. Since then it has been pulling to the right. This is the 7th time they have looked at the vehicle. They did replace the Steering Gear Assembly? They (Big Star Cadillac Friendswood, TX) told me is was finally fixed. Drove the car with the Service Manager and Director, still pulling to the right. They seem to be at a loss and my patience is running thin. Any suggestions?

Your answer is in the post prior to yours. Did you read that post by @tank314159 ?

I have posted it once again as part of this response because it is so well written. Go back to your dealer and show them the post, or find a different dealer who will do a complete job.

Thanks for responding. I just sent an email to the dealership including the screenshot of the proposed solution in the above thread asking them if they had done this. I requested Ken Garff, the owner of Big Star Cadillac be notified and to send me the phone number of the GM Corporate VP responsible. If the dealership refuses to escalate it, I don't have a problem doing so. If people are going to different dealerships and not getting resolution, it would appear to be a much larger issue being ignored by GM. Therefore, it appears that GM is not providing adequate training... So I see this as a GM Corporate issue.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions. Maybe several of us need to push the dealerships / owners to hold GM accountable... 7 times at the dealership and them have the car for 7 or 8 weeks and telling me time and time again the issue is fixed when it's obvious that it's not, is irresponsible and completely unacceptable.

The steering calibration needs to be done with a GM Scan Tool or equivalent. An independent shop may have the capability, but the tool to do so is expensive. Any GM service center, not just Cadillac, has the tools to do the job correctly. Where have you had the alignments done? Do they have the electronic tools necessary to make the adjustments? Don't be afraid to print Post #13 for a clear and accurate description of the fix for a complete alignment.

I never really noticed before, but the other day, while driving down a straight street, I thought about this thread. I let go of the wheel and it drifted a little to the right! Now, maybe it's because of the crown of the street (most streets drain off to the right). I always rest my hand on the left side spoke of the wheel and the weight just makes driving straight simple. Don't think my tires are wearing unevenly. Doesn't really bother me, just an observation.

So I just had a tire link replaced and an alignment done at the dealership two days it was perfect by the third day there was a strange vibration and it pulled to the right a little bit so not exactly the same as yours I called the dealership they think it's a misfire of spark plugs which is possibility or and as I'm researching it it could be engine mounts and if you had it aligned and it still does it and if it has any kind of vibration I would look into engine mounts or the alignment can actually exacerbate a situation or a problem that was underlying I hope this helps you and I hope this helps me
