I do not understand the sudden move to "electric only" by Cadillac, but I have no intention of buying an electric vehicle at this time as it is nowhere near filling the bill in the area that I live. With the nearest dealer now 70 miles from me, I am almost certain that I have bought my last Cadillac. I can't help but feel that Cadillac is making the wrong decision.

We made the wrong decision by letting China have Cadillac what are u doing general motors how about just give the whole company to them and we can drive Chinese cars in America.
Who is WE? GM makes decisions where they do business and recognized a very lucrative market where they are successful. Capitalism at work whether we like it or not. We are driving several cars from that region.

Yes exactly. Remember WE like the cheap products from China like our big 50in TV's for $300, down to our pots and pans, cell phones, Ipods, aftermarket stuff for cars, clothes on and on. So why shouldn't WE make money off of China? I don't blame GM or Ford etc. In China Buick and Cadillac are huge brands. They sell more there than here. It's business and Capitalism as njacobsen so rightly pointed out. Bottom line it's all about money and shareholders.

What is puzzling to me is why Cadillac is cancelling the XT5 in the U.S., but is keeping the XT4? I think the XT5 is a better seller than the XT4, and in my opinion a better car. Isn't the XT5 presently the best selling Cadillac?

Maybe Cadillac thinks the XT5 would rob sales from the Lyriq, plus maybe they need the XT5 production lines to make the Lyriq; however, Cadillac is having major problems producing the Lyriq and I think there would be continuing demand for the XT5 by people who aren't ready for an EV and/or an EV doesn't fit their use case. It will take a long time to transition to EVs and in that time a lot of ICE cars will be sold, just not XT5s. I want to upgrade my 2018 XT5 so I guess it is going to be a Lexus, not a Cadillac.

Totally agree with Den49. I do not understand why the ICE XT5 will not be available in the US. I also thought that the XT5 was the best selling Cadillac in the states. I too would probably upgrade from my 2017 XT5, but there is no way that I can make an EV work for me at this time and the XT4 is too small. Kind of seems like we have been loyal to the brand, but we no longer fit into the business model. We can't change what some see as the new business model in our capitalistic economy, but it sure seems to me that Cadillac has told me to go somewhere that I have no intention of going.

You are correct. I was all set to get a 2023 model because I had read that the dash and some body changes were going to happen on it. Wrong, that did not happen. So I bought out my lease ,in anticipation of what I was told about the changes that were to be applied to the 2024 model instead. Wrong again. As you stated for China only , the model here will be the same and eventually end production of it in 2 years. So they can use that line ,in Tennessee to assemble more Lyriq's . I have been a Cadillac customer since 1979 and with this news it will be the end for me.

The Gen.Man at my local Cadillac dealer and the top sales person (who's trained by GM on the V-brand and sales) told me the reason is exactly that, Cadillac/GM feels the XT5 would compete too much with Lyriq. I think it's crazy. They are so different. I like the more subdued look of the XT5. I'm not ready to jump into the Lyriq electric yet, it needs time and a few years to get bugs out. Also people trained to fix them etc. IMO Cadillac needs to pull back, they should have made the XT4 or 5 a Hybrid. Also they need to advertise the other great cars they sell! You never see any ads for any of them, how about a Super Bowl ad showing off the CT4V and CT5V awesome cars. Oops, sorry I'm ranting....

Cadillac needs to pull back
I fully agree. Seems the push to EV is too quick - all EV by 2030.

According to what I've read; target dates for ending the present Cadillac line up of ICE vehicles in NA are:

XT5 - 2025
XT6 - 2025
CT5 - 2025
XT4 - 2026
CT4 - 2026
Escalade - 2029
CT5/4 V - ??

I agree with what you have said ,but in my opinion there will be a very low percentage of XT5 drivers that will get a Lyriq ,they most likely will look elsewhere . So in reality GM-Cadillac is gambling on it's future by putting only EV's in their basket. Bad move.

Where did you see that the XT5 ends in 2025? Is that in China only?

I had seen something about it maybe going to '24 but don't remember where.

I would be thrilled if it went to '25.

Well,I talk to the owner of the Cadillac dealer I go to a lot. He on the other hand communicates with the GM-CADILLAC executives. So he says in 2 years they want to do away with the XT5,even though it is a very good seller. To further push the Lyriq. In my way of thinking, I think keeping the XT5 while pushing the Lyriq ,is a better way to go.

NA stands for North America. I searched on-line for the most common reported date. For the XT5 ending production in '25, see the link below.
