Has anyone had Smart AutoStart installed for 4 years or longer? At this time, 4 years is likely the maximum amount of time because that would be a 2017. The reason for the question is if Smart AutoStart will extend the life of our AGM batteries? There seems to be a pattern that the life of an AGM battery is roughly 4 years if everything operates as delivered when new. Has anyone with electronics issues had Smart AutoStart installed for any length of time?

But if the Engine stops, the Air Condition can not cool.
If it needs to cool, my Engine is still running.
Compressor stops when engine stops, but blower fan still runs. Blowing the 'remnants' of the coolness from the evaporator into the cabin. But if evaporator gets too warm, Stop/Start will kick off and engine will restart to allow cooling to continue.

If the cabin has not reached the set temperature yet, then engine will remain on as cooling continues. If the cabin is at temperature, then my comment per above applies - AC system is simply cycling to maintain set cabin temperature and Stop/Start will engage when vehicle stops, compressor stops, but blower continues.

Of course, I don't always pay attention to this function and therefore try to express myself carefully.
Because the air conditioning compressor mostly cools here at the moment, start / stop is almost deactivated.
As far as I know, the convenience functions have priority.
I apologize if the translation software writes some things differently than I mean.

Autostop start only deactivates if the AC is actively cooling, not when it is on and has already reached the desired temperature. Either way, auto stop start has no place on a luxury car.

These AGM batteries take a lot of abuse with all the electronics and Start Stop. I usually will replace batteries at 4 or 5 years. Not for everyone, but this is my OCD.
You will need a 10mm socket, 13mm with extension.

5. Remove Base Battery Hold down 13mm with extension. * This is the hardest part of the job, I will save you the aggravation. " You can remove the bolt and the hold down from the top, however to put it back together, you insert the 2 parts from the bottom, there is an opening to slide the 2 plastic holders in from the bottom, then the screw from the top. It is impossible to do it any other way, took me over 20 min to figure this out. ** To make sure you put this back together correctly, after you think you did it correctly, you should NOT be able to lift up the battery on that end.

6. Notice 2 components to hold battery, the small part goes in first then the hold down second.

7. Reverse order after installing new battery.... Good Luck!

An acquaintance of mine through motorcycling is in automotive supply logistics. Batteries came up in conversation and he offered his opinion. Summarizing, if your battery is likely near the end of its utility, replace it. Automotive, motorsports, and hybrid vehicles will all have a shortage of available batteries soon and continuing well into 2022 according to him and the bean counters that support him. I know nothing about logistics, or battery supplies. But, I do know that my buddy is as sober as a judge and has never steered me wrong on any advice he offered on motorcycles. A quick google search supports his position for both lithium and lead batteries.

Afternoon everyone and anyone. Battery swap on 2020XT5. Yes AMAZON good deal on battery. The OBD 12vbattery tender is good to save program on the vehicle. Just wanted to add a hint and comment. The battery hold down little angle in the bottom of the battery box that moves around is very well kept in place with a piece of duct tape. As far as taking of just the + post it’s a lot easier to disconnect those three leads on the right side of the battery then take the + post connector off trying to move all those connection and pull the post connector off then to have a helper in the way is very hard. Take the leads off and move on the side.

Been using the Auto Start/Stop Eliminator for about eight months. Battery is about 54 months old, no problems and tests good on my TOPDON 101 battery tester. I also have a battery maintainer keeping the battery charger most of the time.

Regular use of a battery maintainer will make your battery much longer than typical who drive a variety of trip lengths and irregular usage intervals.
That's why I use the battery maintainer. Other than one or two long trips per year, we only drive this car once or twice per week for short trips.

I know this is an old post but I have a question. Aren't we supposed to put a power maintainer on the OBDII port prior to changing the battery? This was unfamiliar to me but the folks over at Interstate said it is a requirement to do so and that, though remote, there is a chance of damage (bricking) to certain electronic devices without taking that step. I do not know if that is true or not.

As an aside, Interstate gives a generous discount to US veterans.

I have disconnected the battery several times on my XT5, without maintaining power to the car, to clean the battery terminals or do other maintenance to the car without any problems. It even retains the radio presets. A few carmakers may have issues with this, but not the XT5 nor GM in general, nor Toyota, nor Ford in my experience.

You don't need a tender to disconnect the battery. I've probably disconnected it 20x or more while monkeying around with engine mods. The only thing you must do is ensure that the alarm isn't armed otherwise it will go off when you disconnect it. Simplest thing to do is leave a door open before you do it, so it doesn't arm.
