You may have noticed that its almost impossible to get a decent signal on XM right now. Apparently some engineer killed one of the new satellites during a software update.

OOPS!

[My service was cancelled but will continue working for the rest of the billing cycle.]

Looks like SAT1 -and- the entire North American ground repeater network died at the same time.

Thanks for the post / info. Been wondering what all of the static was about.

+1 I thought it was the new vehicle or something. Glad to know it's not permanent.
Not a problem over on Sirius ;)

Dunno bout you, but my Sirius in both my truck and Jeep have been cutting out like mad lately. Must be a feature your used to. LOL
I just parked the STS so I wouldn't know... heck, I listen to Sirius in that most of the time anyways. Getting the M5 ready for 5erfest... and that has Sirius :)

Sounds like somebody doesn't have their Sirius hooked up properly. I have my Sportster Replay in my boombox at work all day long and then I toss it in my car for the ride home and I never have it cutting out unless I am driving through the woods or something

I guess both my 07 jeep and my 08 ford are both installed incorrectly from the factory then.

It was only a couple days it did it, been just fine since. The 5 yrs or so Ive had XM in our GM vehicles I never had any issues or loss of service until this time. Otherwise I've been happy with both. (Actually prefer XM becuase their Country selection is better) Some of the other programming is better on Sirius though.
Sirius has fewer ground repeaters than XM, so there might not be as much metro-area coverage where you live. The three Sirius satellites have an orbit that helps prevent signal loss when between buildings, though this isn't as effective as putting up tons of repeaters.

So, if you're in town, XM will have a better signal... except this week! LOL
It was improved today over the last couple of days, at least this afternoon it was.
