Well..I performed the nav mod on my car and everything was
working well till today..It's been atleast 2 months since the swap..
I was listening to XM radio and turned off the car...when I returned
my radio went straight to FM signal...hit the band button and it would
not switch to XM..all I had available was FM1, FM2 and AM...Shut off
the car and went inside..p/o offcourse and went back and turned the radio on...
now there was XM again for about a minute then it switched back to FM on
its own. Any thoughts on where the problem might be...

What are the probabilities it is a faulty radio versus a faulty XM module...

I'm concerned b/c I did the nav swap and I don't want the dealer giving
me a hassle about the radio....

I'd appreciate any suggestions ???

Subject: UAV Navigation Radio Loss of XM Satellite Radio (Replace Digital Radio Receiver) #06-08-44-011B - (05/10/2006)

Models: 2005-2006 Cadillac CTS, CTS-V

with Navigational Radio (RPO UAV) and XM Satellite Radio (RPO U2K)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to clarify that this bulletin only applies to vehicles equipped with the UAV Navigation Radio. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-44-011A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers with the UAV Navigation radio may comment that the XM band is not present at times at vehicle start-up. When this occurs, only selections AM, FM1 and FM2 are available.

Cause
The XM receiver is removed as a band selection on the radio due to a loss of communication from the XM Digital Radio Receiver (DRR). The communication is lost due to a "busy" state being reported from the XM DRR, even though no transmission is currently taking place. The software in the XM DRR does not currently prevent this condition from occurring. A combination of heavy class 2 bus traffic and queuing of low priority XM Traffic Data messages can increase the likelihood that this condition will occur.

Correction
DO NOT REPLACE THE RADIO OR SATELLITE ANTENNA.

If the Digital Radio Receiver (DRR) currently installed in the vehicle is P/N 15847358, continue with diagnosing the issue using the XM radio information found in Service Information (SI). A replacement DRR may not be needed.

If the DRR is other than P/N 15847358, the DRR will require replacement. Contact GM Technical Assistance. The XM prompt is combined with the OnStar® prompt. The Technical Assistance consultant will verify your diagnosis and, if appropriate, order a replacement part.
Your dealer should be able to order one, they are no longer on parts restriction.

Thank you for replying...the nav unit came off of a 2005 and I installed it in my 2006...I matched the woodgrain bezel on it also through another vendor..The install is very clean performed by a delaer that performs service for my caddy dealer..My big concern is taking it into the dealer under my warranty and having them say the radio doesn't belong to the car...aesthetically you couldn't tell..but I don't know if the service writers will pick up on it and flag me to not get it fixed..any suggestions ??
