My horn's pretty decent, check and make sure yours isnt broken. The "horn" is located behind the bumper, below the headlight (its a pain in the a$$ to get to). On mine there are actually two "horns" so perhaps one of yours isnt working.

It's not that hard to buy a set of air horns with a little compressor, then bypass the factory horns. I did this on a Honda once. Sounded like a Tijuana Taxi, but still much louder than the factory Japanese beep.

But I'm betting Robert is right, your low freq. horn is shorted out or something.

Thats funny. I don't want to pay that kind of money for a horn though.

Would a horn be something that is under warranty? Or is it something I could change out myself inexpensively?

You need to get yourself a train horn from these guys: http://www.hornblasters.com/products/catagory.php?id=8.

The site also has some great videos. It's hilarious watching pedestrian's reactions when the drivers lay into one of these: http://www.hornblasters.com/vide.php
O man. Those videos are hilarious. I need to install one of these and throw a switch in the ashtray compartment so I would still be able use the stock horn under normal circumstances but when someone pisses me off in traffic...:lildevil:

Move out the way!!

are there any air horns out there that has a lower tone like the one in the video, or do you have to pay $500 for that?

Separate but possibly related question. I can't seem to get my alarm to work, is it possible that a broken lower frequency horn might be part of the problem?

In my manual, it says that the horn will sound and lights will go off if the alarm goes off. But nothing happens. I do have the icon on the dashboard though, so it seems it should work.

I have a Audiovox Prestige APS-996A remote start/alarm, but I'm not sure the alarm is hooked up. Would this after-market alarm supercede the factory alarm? I've never heard the alarm go off, but the rest of the functions work.

Anyone familiar with alarms??

Try getting in the car and locking the doors with the remote. Wait about 30 seconds or so, then lift up lock tab and open the door. This should set off the alarm (but dont hit the unlock button on the door as that might disarm it, but I'm not sure).
