I go back there to grab the old bulb to take to the a-parts store, & I'm confronted with the bulb wire going straight into the hole surrounded by a large rubber grommet, which doesn't easily pull out (although I didn't try too hard, since I didn't want to break anything).

Where is my nice slide-locking plastic bulb holder, which has been in every headlight & taillight on every car I've ever owned???

Anyone?

Did you remove the taillamp from the car? You didn't mention doing that.

Nope. I'm trying to find out if I yank on that rubber piece hard enough, I'm going to pull it out & find the bulb attached to the end of it...

I just can't see why they wouldn't have the old-school locking bulb-holder in there like my old '88 Fleetwood.

I don't want to yank it out & say "Uh oh..."

Where the wiring harness goes through the back panel, you'll see three big black nuts. Unscrew them and pull the taillamp away from the car. You'll see the lamp sockets.
