Was just advertised here locally. Garage kept, etc. Its hard to imagine just 39,000 miles ago it was going for 40,000 dollars

A "2001" is now 21 model years old, there are lots of decent 1997 - 2005 Devilles around (in all 3 trim levels), and many people are afraid of the FWD Northstar powertrain.

I have a 2002 Deville DHS with only 36K miles - absolute showroom condition -
I bought brand new - I wouldn't sell it for $10K -

And rightfully so. After everything I now know about these model years I would never buy another one unless it was a 2004-2005

.... and that's no guarantee of any sort of long-term maintenance relief. IF I wanted another 2000 - 2003 STS I'd buy a cherry one with a blown engine and either do the overhaul myself or truck it to Jake or Joe. Dirt cheap repair (? $4,000 or so +/- ?) for a damned fine car.

The only 2004 Sevilles were a 6240 SLS - and 274 STS, all of which were exported, mainly to Canada. No interest in a Deville.

Is it just me, or does it seem to be pretty hard to find a 2000+ STS in great condition these days? It seems like the majority of those cars where beat to hell by their owners and less of them have even survived that. Really nice cars that were loaded with features too.

What don’t you like about the Devilles?

Not the Deville per se -
If we wanted a daily driver people mover sedan we'd probably look for a Lincoln Town Car mushmobile. For fun and games we drive the STS; for practicality we drive the Explorer or a F-150.

If we wanted a daily driver people mover sedan we'd probably look for a Lincoln Town Car mushmobile. For fun and games we drive the STS; for practicality we drive the Explorer or a F-150.
Call it what you want but the Lincoln Town Car is a far superior car than any of these Cadillacs. The one and only reason I drive the Deville's is that they are front wheel drive and I need it for the snow.

I see window regulators and acuators in your future. Never met a long tern deville owner who didnt have to replace the window regulators. Stock up on ignition coil packs and OIL too and dont park in my drive way after you get about 70,000 miles on it.

And rightfully so. After everything I now know about these model years I would never buy another one unless it was a 2004-2005
The deville ghost story graveyard group on here, some swear the desighn wasnt changed until mid-2004, some say all 2004-2005 have the new desighn....i never have found anyone who knows for sure so cross your fingers on any early 2004 models unless someone on here can set the record straight?
